There's a reason why everyone plays Horde in WoW. I rather not see a world filled with only Lalafells because they decided give them an ability that grants +3% crit for 15 seconds.

I am not a fan of them, I always feel compelled to pick something because of the racial then.
And sometimes it's even kinda enforced, I know that it was in WoW Classic when I went back at least especially for Classes like Priests where they also got unique spells.
In the end of the day I think it just in effect makes for less choice.
I think that SWTOR does it the best because the racials are fluff, Twi'lek gets a unique dance and Humans get a Rally emote.
In FFXIV we get unique cultural sets.
Weren't stats slightly(like 1-5 points max) different based on race back in 2.x? It was such a miniscule difference that it really didn't matter in the long run, and honestly, going back to something like that would be more of a pain than it would be worth. There are already gears that change depending on your race, and tons of people clamoring for it to be changed to any race can wear any of those different versions.
They're still slightly different but yeah it makes no actual difference.Weren't stats slightly(like 1-5 points max) different based on race back in 2.x? Those stat differences still exist, but they are such small differences that they are functionally irrelevant. The lowest a base stat seems to go is 18 and highest is 23. This is also before any stats from your level or gear.Weren't stats slightly(like 1-5 points max) different based on race back in 2.x? But at any rate, I wouldn't want any kind of racial abilities, because those tend to end up making certain races more viable to play than others.
To be honest, I would love to have some tangible trait or effect for races. Its such a nerdy rpg thing that Im just sad it gets dismissed due to the nature of balance.
I'm not against racial traits as I love the flavor it adds in games like D&D both from a gameplay and storytelling perspective. Adding racials with a tangible benefit in combat could absolutely have a negative effect however due to this game's heavy emphasis on a dps meta.
So any racial differences would have to be purely cosmetic. For example, in FFXI every race/gender combo had it's own unique stance for every weapon and a different animation for every weapon skill. I'd be all in for stuff like that as it would provide more flavor, more visual difference between players, and wouldn't have any effect on performance since it's a purely cosmetic difference.
