    Even HP/MP, A Tarutaru Paladin would have a chunk less HP than a Galka Paladin definitely. but a tarutaru paladin had a lot more sustainability with self heals thanks to that extra MP.
    A galka Red Mage often was able to compensate for lower MP than a Taru Taru Redmage through having a higher HP pool to "convert" into mp without leaving themselves exposed.
    Galka also had the second highest Mind Stats making them decent choices for healers and debuffers. more mnd meant stronger "paralysis" or more potent "slow" and higher hp regens and cures.

    You could play effectively with any race/job combo. (at least in the 75 era where i played 2001-2010 i think.)

    I do kinda think it'd be cool in 14 as well. but 14 has gone the path of homogenize EVERYTHING!!!! so yeah..

    I’ll admit,

    I’ve only made it by mere luck to Lv. As Elvaan Samurai but even then the cost of food buffs & gear equipment was far primitive & basically it hardly made sn avenue to advance forward at that time (hell crafting was consider only a luxury for those that had the Gil to start it).

    I will never forget back in Valkrum Dunes being rejected & booted out of groups often due to having below average MP as Elvaan white despite being geared.

    In my opinion, the META in that game that so players reinforced was poison. Hence why I couldn’t bother & sadly resorted to Guild Wars eventually

    In Guild Wars 2, each race has 5 racial skills (equitable in the skill slots not tied to your weapon attacks) but they either have very long cooldowns, incredibly weak damage, or both. While it's a fun bit of flavour to use while leveling, the devs nerf them heavily if they even slightly look like they might become useful in group content to prevent any race from become more meta than the others.

    Having to compromise on playing the character you want to play or risk being at a disadvantage doesn't sound fun, so I'd prefer no combat racial skills/passives. I'd prefer armour inspired by the different cultures of the races instead, or more unique emotes (like /dance).

    Honestly, while I would be fine with flavor racials that didn't impact combat, I wouldn't trust the devs to get them right. Their QA and ability design has been rather poor lately.

    Racial traits are cool, but they don't really make sense as something added later.

    This game has exactly the same "racial traits" system as FFXI already. The two or three points of a stat simply amount to nothing when your main stat is in the thousands

    I believe they removed this quite some time ago, but 1.0 and Reborn versions did have this.

    No, races still have a stat swing. But it doesnt scale with levels. So the biggest different at level 90 is like 4 stat points depending on race

    Nothing good comes out of it. WoW still suffers the consequences of having racial traits. Too much of a bother to balance and even if you aren't a 24/7 end game raider, as long as you do any sort of endgame content, you will feel in disadvantage for choosing a race that isn't beneficial for your job of choice in PvE.
