Will the real Leviathan please stand up?

Just wondering why there are two Leviathans in the data files?

Was the smaller, simplified one simply easier to animate so they tossed the old one? Or is there something more sinister at hand, plot-wise?

Seems a bit fishy.

But that's how you fought that huge thing from FFX.

On a more serious note, keen observers will have seen how Ifrit's internals glowed more the further one progressed through the battle.

I think we may be seeing something similar here. An ether-charged Leviathan!

Wasn't Yoshi talking about underwater areas? I can't imagine me fighting leviathan while swimming tough^^ I would only end as snack for this huge serpant.

I can only see the big fish that appears at the opening cutscene as a huge Pugil, nothing else. Leviathan is known for it's distinctive colors. In the opening cutscene it just seemed like a sea monster.

Yeah I think the Seadragon in the Opening Video was not Leviathan but only a normal Monster

I've seen devs refer to the sea-serpent from the opening cutscene as leviathan.

yoshi stated that Leviathan and titan might have been ready to put in the game. but due to the earthquake that hit japan. they might have been held back out of resepect. (i noticed he loves to be vague) if we take this to mean he held them back, maybe this has given the team time to redesign them and thats why you see two different ones.
