Choosing the healer you want to stick with dilemma.

Hey all. This is just more or less a tongue and cheek question but one that has been sitting in the back of my mind. Has anyone else had the small dilemma of choosing THE healer they want to master/stick with? For example, in my case, after some very helpful advice in another thread about cards and AST, I finally got a better hang on what cards to give to whom. Yet, like that picture of the chad with his girlfriend but is looking at the other hot girl that passed by, my "girlfriend" is AST but that SGE hotness is a lot of fun too. (Thankfully, less dangerous than a real girlfriend scenario...)
I have heard of the "Any class can be good in any instance". But my mind isn't settled on staying with AST or SGE. I can heal great on both. Both have their fun, unique and, beautiful aesthetic about them. But, like Y'shtola asking for help on deciding because she over thinks things, I am in the same dilemma. Thoughts?

you can just play both? if you pug just alternate between the two. if your cohealer is a scholar, sch+sge and sch+ast are both solid so swapping around shouldnt be too bad. whm+ast is also fine in everything but ultimates.

Depends on the content. In savage and so on... Easier said than done when you've learned which heals to use where, and changing the comp turns all that on its head and lead to wipes as the healers relearn how to work with each other and which heals to use where. In anything outside of high end, though, yeah.

As for the overall dilemma... I also tend to prefer to specialize rather than be a jack of all trades. But, really, I'd just try different healers and see which feels fun in the moment. If they all do, then maybe specializing isn't for you. Luckily, you can share all gear except weapons so moving between them isn't hard.

It's not like the healing checks are that stringent, plus we're geared now. P1S is the perfect dummy practice. P2S has one clutch moment and might be good to gauge the feel of healing with its recurrent damage. P3S and P4S are more sporty but still ok. Aside from that, why not try both of them with the latest ex on a few runs and decide from there ? The content is lenient yet one might still be able to feel the difference in healing due to people taking damage left and right.

That is a good point. It would help making my sticking to one best. Thanks.

Although same gear for all 4 is great but in some ways, it would be nice if it was more specific... only just for helping me stick to one healer and not being a "joboholic" lol.

So does one edge out a little more than the other overall between AST and SGE? Or will this just start a Job war? I just am really curious and hard for just me to see if there is. If this isn't a good question then forgive me for asking.

In optimized raid settings SCH+AST are the meta but SGE is great too so I'd just pick whichever you enjoy most

I'd say it's the other way around. SGE + SCH gives you the most bang for your buck when your party's not making mistakes, but AST + SCH has more safety.

I don't really see how Sage isn't as safe as Astrologian. The only on-demand tools AST has over Sage are their regens and Benefic II, where I'd argue having twice as many Lustrate/Druocholes to spare is going to make a bigger difference. If you mean the burst healing CDs AST does have let the shield healer in its pairs flex more since it's technically more efficient on the spot, I can kinda get it, but to me that's more risky at a baseline level given how finicky AST's tools are. Don't get me wrong, they're good, but I'd feel more comfortable with the Sage/Scholar pair just given the sheer amount of redundancy and uptime on their resources.
