It says a lot about how little thought he puts into even thinking about the Hrothgar community when he blatantly ignores us for nearly two weeks after showing off those disgraceful and outright disrespectful and lazy hairstyles and then feigns surprise that the hrothgar community (and a good many others who don't play the big cats) were very upset over how bad the hairstyles looked, especially with the ears removed.

Meanwhile when the housing lottery system doesn't work as intended, he gets up at 5AM on Sunday morning to write a personal message about how sorry he is. Not only that, but he writes a second message today, once again talking about how sorry and ashamed he is for the system not working like it is supposed to.

It really makes me feel like an afterthought, and when people bring it up he has this dismissive attitude about it.

hrothgar players have been asking for the racial hairstyles for years, and have been asking for unique hairstyles for just as long. We havent been stomping our feet and throwing a tantrum over it because Yoshi-P had said repeatedly over the years that he wanted to do more beastial hairstyles for hrothgar, and yet here we are 3 years later with nothing to show for it except some REALLY ugly hairstyles that literally no one asked for on hrothgar

Well, this time we added hairstyles for Hrothgar, and I do want to make a mention on Hrothgar's specification one more time and talk on this. You see, Hrothgar's head part is actually and completely exclusive. Because of that we can achieve that kind of quality and realise the features of Hrothgar along with their hairstyle. Because of this speciality of theirs, Hrothgars originally cannot have hairstyles added...and that was what I mentioned at the start but since then we receive comments like "I want hairstyles to be added" so we tried to accommodate that and we did added it in, but with the condition where the ears are hidden "within the hairstyles" while maintaining the structure of their head. If that's the case, we thought we can gradually start adding hairstyles on them and that was the plan, but now we received a lot of voices saying that it somehow became weird that they don't have ears....

Hmm...well this is something that we're struggling here, currently. Well if this is about an update to XIV...of course this is going to be compared somewhat but even as I say that, we did indeed try to accommodate by adjusting the hairstyle to match the head shape and whatnot but if what we get here was "no this wasn't what we meant" each passing day, then we do have to step back and rethink....well, this will cause the frequency of (hairstyle) addition to drop, but maybe we can create specialized Hrothgar hairstyle that match their head shape? Though this will come in very limited numbers...ummmmmmm....

I mean we indeed made it clear and because we did that we knew just how hard creating Hrothgar is. Creating hairs and furs for Hrothgar is honestly really hard...no joke. ......Hmmm, what should we do...Right, it is indeed troubling...Well even if you tell us to hurry up and find a solution we can't do that because it indeed takes time for us to. So I would appreciate it if you can send us your feedback to the official forums so that we can look into it. The people in the community team will gather and round up the feedback and report to the team. Once again, I want people to understand that the head shape of Hrothgar is really unique and specially made here, and we created and implement them this way thinking the Furries will be happy with this, so I'll be happy if please can understand that it's done completely different from other races in the game.

there have been a few players who have been white knighting for the 14 team pretty hard lately and almost all of them have accused the hrothgar players of being whiny and entitled.

We hrothgar players have been giving our opinions for years, and Yoshi-P hadn't deigned to give us any consideration or speak to us regarding hrothgar hairstyles until players started actively getting upset and were outraged by what he offered. So to see him ignore the outrage from Hrothgar players for the 2 weeks after the Live Letter and then express how shocked he is when it gets pushed to live with even more outrage is incredibly insulting and feels very disingenuous. It makes it feel so much worse when he immediately jumped to give 2 separate apologies regarding the housing lottery situation within 2 days of the issue popping up.

He says he is going to listen to our feedback, but he has pointedly ignored the hrothgar community up to this point, so i don't think anyone can blame me for feeling skeptical about it.

I wonder where has he been getting his feedback from? I know many Hrothgar players wanted them to at least unlock the other Hrothgar hairstyles for the other faces. While I commend them for finally allowing Hrothgar the ability switch between the 2 hairstyles of a face, I am left wondering why they chose the those? Is it because they already made it available to male Viera?

I don't particularly keep up with the hrothgar threads but I feel like this whole issue came about when Yoshi decided to cut corners/allow lower quality products to be released.
If you have a market for people who want lower quality products then you should make people aware that's who you're selling it to I.E. newly released hrothgar hair.
Because while the newly released hairs are simply a bad pick(seriously whoever picks these hairstyles, the viera ones were awful too) I can see there being people who are fine with their ears missing.

And if he couldn't make produce a product at regular or above average quality then he should've moved onto a different product(race-specific hair) instead that could be produced at acceptable levels of quality and then addressed the issue.
Unilaterally deciding to release a lower quality product is of course going to make a lot of people angry, especially after so many years have gone by with no communication at all other than: It's complicated. When modders have shown it isn't.
Allowing issues like this to fester, while taking the inferior road, all while being outdone by modders is just a recipe for disappointment.

Instead what he should have done is released race-specific hair(one group of a people would've loved it, one would be mildly upset) and simply said: "Hey we can get you your hair from the regular races, but it'll look like this. Do you still want this?"

The problem you're running into is not everyone wants the same thing. Players have also been asking to have the hairstyles earned as in game rewards added. They feel like they're getting cheated out of rewards when other players can use them but they can't due to race choice.

Since those styles were already in game, it made sense to focus on those first since less work would be involved so they could get those released faster.

So as Shibi says - Hrothgar players need to give feedback on what types of hairstyles are most important to them, unique racial or adaptation of existing human style, so SE will know what to focus on next. And they need to accept they will be disappointed if the majority voice among Hrothgar players pushes for other than what they personally want.
