I'm not going to read the replied to the OP. I'll just share.
I get exasperated by these forums, frequently. The level of one-sided critique is beyond the norm for... well, everywhere else. I think that's just the type of culture that sprung forth from these kind of games. I remember arguing for weeks on end in unofficial communities about what was acceptable play in FFXI, and the concept of overinflated expectations. FFXIV raised the bar of my own expectations in this game, but I've always leaned more on the side of understanding what's been communicated and basing my feedback within those known bounds - rather than outright and aggressively challenging them.
I find a lot of the so-called criticism here toxic - to the point of "I would be tempted to strike this person if we weren't in a sue-happy world." Not over anything in the game specifically but under the onus of "You'd never say that to anyone in actual, physically present company and not be considered inciting a fight." A lot of it is "Karen" Behavior at best, disingenuous instigating on average. People should know to behave better and not act out of petulance or obstinance.
So I keep a distance. I don't think debating online has gotten worse - so much as I've lost tolerance of it. I have to remind myself that this is all exhaustively tired old hat because I'm much older now - and many people are either younger people who are experiencing that phase of their lives, or adults that never got to kick the phase. Either way, I pity the community leads that have to sift through this - and hope some day financial expectations of community management will allow them to properly enforce better conduct, regardless of where you fall on the argumentative scale.

Too many words, not enough hostility.
Get back to fighting people, or I will poke you all with a stick.

Perhaps it was the americans are school shooters in this thread or the fact EU players keep complaining about how NA people are so entitled because they are customers and just don't lay down and take whatever comes to them because in the EU everyone is a peasant. Also AU players for years have complained about getting their own data center but we over look that and whine about the person who wants to give you people exactly what you all wanted.
Seriously players from the EU constantly whine about NA players but they go over and play with them instead of going to the EU servers that were provided to EU players. Same with AU Players which this is a big announcement since for years this has been the biggest AU Compliant and now the data centers are here no one wants to go over there.
Welcome to FFXIV!The forums these days.... Hm.... I almost miss the troll post spam.... almost.
Let's see....
1) Taking a game so seriously that you insult other people over it
2) Being condescending, insulting, and/or overly aggressive to people who do not share your opinion or dare to be positive/negative
????
Yikes. maybe the stress has gotten to people with all that's going on in the world, which, yeah understandable, but jiminy Christmas, everyone here needs to take a step back and relax.
Housing, glamour, job balancing, etc etc needs work, yes, but that doesn't excuse spewing vitriol at each other.
The people on this forum are not your enemies, they are fellow human beings who want to play this game and have fun, just like you do.
Please, try to be kind to each other.

Your comments are bizarre, since from anecdotal experience, EU customers on here (at least based on their server) are not the ones who are against complaining and criticising the game. Quite the opposite, I find. With that said, I wouldn't be opposed to such a split in the forum.Everyone from the EU won't have to deal with NA Players who they feel are entitled customers and they can take every thing Square Enix gives them and won't have to see many people complaining and they can accept their lot in life as is their way.
[...]
Win/Win for everyone except the EU and AU players who want to come into NA Forums and Data Centers and tell people to accept their lot in life and being a consumer means nothing and to accept your lot in life as a good serf peasant.
When the game's story becomes self-aware:

It does feel like some (again, some, not most) newer thread comments have gotten more toxic than usual lately, whether that includes comments that involve passive-aggressive remarks, or even some cases of outright bigotry within certain large threads. Regardless, there’s a report feature, and I really hope that the forum moderators more actively address comments that clearly violate the terms of use with regards to its pretty straightforward notes about harassment. People shouldn’t feel uncomfortable on the official forums.
Just because I make posts most feisty and spicy does not mean I hate the person am replying too.
I do not know you or anyone in this place well enough to even dislike them. I know nothing about the developers either beyond the stuffs they design. Besides English is not the main language so must work with what you have.. Am capable of disagreeing with what someone says without disliking them. Heck! Can even become best of the friends with others after a minor spicy debate, kinda find those enjoyable if there is honesty.
What am attempting to say is not every bout of feist is some vitriolic toxic comment. There are no lines to read between and perhaps some are looking too deeply into things that mean nothing.

I'm visiting this forum today and I used to be a regular in 2015/2014. It's depressing how toxic it is right now. The problem isn't criticism, is the lack of respect and willingness to have a decent discussion.
