I think that the problem with this is that if you do then next time people will expect the same in another case and when they don't make an urgent mention of it people will begin to go wild with speculation.
They said that they're delaying the AST and DRG reworks because of the negative feedback towards SAM, that's as good of an admission we're going to get before the Live Letter.
I know that from the players pov it might seem simple, but when you look at it from their pov everything they say will get read into and set a precedence for the future and be put under a microscope.
I mean we saw that with Yoshi-P's rather tame joke about how we'll be mad about lack of glam space in three months, and people took that harmless comment and went completely ballistic about it and had mental breakdowns about how horrible they think he is and how he's '' mocking us ''.
People took it as if he was being shitty towards us out of spite and like it was intended to be a personal attack.
Yes it's annoying with the silence, but people have already showcased both in this case and many other cases that they're not capable of not reading a billion things into every little move or comment the devs make or even don't make.
If they came out and made a statement about Kaiten here then it'd set expectations for the future and if they didn't comment on a similar case in the future people would flip out and read in some hidden message into it.
This is fairly common in PR.
People can get as mad at me as they want for saying it but people on this forum behave like children, and if people are gonna behave like children then they'll have to expect to be treated like children too.
It's not rly just about this specific case, but the grander scheme of things.
People are already reading what they want to read into it because it suits their outrage because he didn't mention it directly in the part 1 of the Live Letter even tho they don't typically comment on Jobs in part 1.
Edit since no more posts left today:
That's because you're thinking about it in a vacuum.
Sure, now they have a vocal minority doing it and who think that him not commenting on that specifically is some hidden message that is implying the worst.
If he had a history however of commenting on things like this and didn't in this case then there would appear to be more merit behind the wild speculation in this case.
But the fact that he doesn't means that all that it is is just wild speculation because people want to be mad.
Because it's the same in basically every other case, people have nothing to go on other than what they want to be mad about in the moment.
I also think that in reality we've gotten more to go on with this than we usually would, because like I said before the DRG and AST reworks are being delayed because of the negative feedback towards SAM.
That's more than nothing, and usually we get nothing.
He also did explain their reasoning behind it, whether you agree or not is a different matter I personally disagree with their reasoning too.
But it's not '' no apparent reason '' and there haven't been radio silence because they have acknowledged that the feedback was negative more than once.
Try and think of it from their pov and of trying to manage expectations in the grand scheme of things and having to deal with people who are constantly reading the most bad faith and worst scenario into everything that comes out your mouth.
It's not strange at all that the situation is what it is and the community ( at least on this forum and the Subreddit ) have a lot of responsibility in that.
The devs don't feel like it's safe to speak to us, we're a source of constant stress and non-charitability.
You're complaining about a problem that you're partly responsible for yourself.
I know it's unpopular to say because as much as people love to criticize others they don't like being criticized themselves.
But it's the truth and why things are the way that they are.
I'd say that the forum is stressful to most people probably whos sole interest isn't to just be part of some angry circlejerk.
No one wants to deal with it and it's going to affect how much and to what level the devs feel like they can communicate with us.
They don't want to have everything they say come back to bite them in the ass constantly, and because of that it's very often just easier to not say anything at all.
