I agree with talking to them to earn the achievement once it is complete, but it is a bit harsh having to talk to them to have the achievements start. Definitely keep the fact that you have to talk to someone to grab your reward though!![]()
LOL cash shop! SE's way to tell their player how they appreciate them... pull the carrot and empty your pockets $$$
And to those who support it: you are kicking yourselves. -- We just need to sit back and laugh at people with cash shop items.
(Marvelous economics IQ test!)
Yeah, I know all of the spots for enemy that drop gil and I can do this in a reasonable amount of time if I actually focused on it. It's not hard at all. Not to mention, people still ignore the fact things will be changing with 2.0 >.>
I'm noticing you saying this quite a bit. No, Vedis isn't the only one, there's plenty of other people, so once again, just because you don't want to do it doesn't mean someone that would/will/is doing it is "the only person that will."

Agreed, I think it's a bit dumb to have to talk to an npc just to see the achievements, but of course obtaining rewards and titles should be down through them, for lore purposes if anything I guess.
I know Rukkirii has already said they are not, but for extra measure...
Please do not change the achievements. Right now they are the only real long term goals in this game.
Leveling is easy, seals are easy, crafting is easier... Please leave us poor "old fashion" types something to actually work for.
As for unlocking achievements, I really like this. I like having additional reasons for exploring and using the world. To me being a part of a virtual world is the reason to play an mmo. Tying in lore to it is great as well.![]()
you dont have to talk to them to have them start
they have been being tracked since they were added regardless of talking to the npc or not
talking to the npc only opens up the catagory in your ui, but once its opened, go there, and everything youve done is already in there and at the level it was tracked at since the achievemnt system was added

another thing i like to point out when it comes to the gil achievments in generalYeah, I know all of the spots for enemy that drop gil and I can do this in a reasonable amount of time if I actually focused on it. It's not hard at all. Not to mention, people still ignore the fact things will be changing with 2.0 >.>

one day ther will be a cap raise, and with that, increased rewards from systems such as leves, and higher level mobs(granted, they may drop 100 more gil per or something when soloing, but that adds up!)
so in time, they will get quicker, and quicker and so on and so forth too

Some achievements should give us a key item that boost some stat permanently...
Like: Doing "Been There, Done That" gives us a scroll that boosts our movement speed by 2%.
or something like that.
I would be much better if there were a reason to visit those areas other than unlocking achievement catagories.
Sure travel there under the guise of wanting to unlock a cetain achievement group, but wouldn't it be a pleasant surprise if there were a whole story arc revolving around that location and surrounding areas. Something to make you want to spend time there, and return time and time again.
wYou noticed that I said that quite a bit, but didn't notice the actual number of people I gave that amount to? You are absolutely crazy to think that it is okay to go around and hunt humanoids 4 hours a day for a year and a half to get an achievement. Is there anything that SE could add that you wouldn't do?
I've already mentioned that maybe all of these things will be fixed by 2.0 implementations, which is the reason for this thread, in hopes of that happening, in hopes of additions that would allow for some of these to be feasible.
I'd actually disagree with that, I think other types of rewards would be just fine, without having people just be OP. With items, at least everyone can't have all items at once on their characters.

I don't think you understand that the purpose behind achievements is "achieving them". They are not expecting you to get them within a few days/weeks. They are expecting most of them to take months/years. So overall, most of them are fine. Some are a bit crazy like 10,000 behests, but I can see some people getting them within a couple of years.
The gathering ones are probably among the worst and most time-consuming. The synthesis ones are nothing compared to those. But still, there are many people who have the luminary tools without botting or devoting their life to the game.
