I really don't think it's a terrible thing. These NPCs aren't even at remote location, but at locations that you are most likely to arrive at or go by at any given time in the game. Because of this, there's no reason to remove this at all. If anything why going to NPC to unlock achievements (let alone unlocking title) is a problem is beyond me. Your achievements are already tracked regardless of unlocking it or not, so even with this in mind, it's not even a rush at all.

I, for one, do not want to see this removed at all. It's just laziness on players part to just go out and talk to NPC, considering that many of the destinations are also destinations for quests as well.
When i started playing (semi recently) I thought it was odd. But when i went to a few after some leveling and adventure i found quests in places i didn't know exsisted. Despite the slight inconvience of going there i quite like it.

What i wouldn't mind being changed is the visit for titles. Having to visit one to recive an actual item i'm fine with, would be kind of nice if you just recived the title as it happened though.

I find it odd that people are so reluctant to explore, even when give a perfectly good reason. The funny thing is that theres a large group of Achievement dudes in Golden Bazaar alone. And the rest will probably be seen through leveling or taking part in quests and other events like Hamlet.

I vote keep the requirement to talk to the Achievement NPCs.

While I agree that some of the achievements are way too hard compared to others, I have decided to just take them as they come. As people have pointed out, a lot of these will eventually be achieved just by playing over time and I am fine with that.

As I pointed out in a post on a different topic, I was going to take that approach to gathering and the doing leves/behests in each camp/region but my concern now is that some camps/areas will not be in 2.0 and that makes me feel like I am forced to do all these achievements before 2.0 so as to not have to start over and I think that is a problem that needs to be addressed or something that would deserve some more information as to how it will work.

We understand that some of these achievements such as "Never Met a Corpse I Couldn't Rifle",
the problem is that unlike the other gil achievement series, this one requires you to hunt mobs that are very uncommon and drop piddly amounts of gil. I predict a year or more will go buy and even the most insane player won't have the final gil-from-enemies achievement yet.

Again, you are talking about the ridiculous things you would do, you being the only one. Though if they change it to where we fight humanoids for a length of time, maybe.

Anyways, you are away at 50k an hour, 4 hours a day, 30 days in a month, it would take you longer than a year to get that achievement?

The achievement NPCs are so typical of what's wrong with FF, both XI and now XIV. The game itself gives no hint of how to unlock achievements AT ALL. I've not been playing continuously but have had characters since pre-release, I have no idea where these NPCs are and the game hasn't even hinted at their existence.

It seems yet again, SE's intention is (a) players are expected to wander aimlessly 'talking' to every damned NPC in the game just to see if they get some sort of reaction, or (b) use the official 'game guide' (a la FFXI) or fan sites.

    Either way, it's a fail.

Someone above mentions a location in Ul'dah where some of these are. Just how is that information conveyed, because it's damned well eluded me.

You are really talking bad about something you seem to have no idea about. You can check on your maps and see the gold medals on the maps and that is where you find the NPCs. Once unlocked, the menu will tell you what you need to do to unlock the achievements. If you didn't know to look for medals, you could check the past patch notes, which everyone should do to know more about the game they are playing, or just ask someone, they will help you.

and your point? again, its a LONG TERM goal for those who want to do it

never said i wanted to do that one(i work on it when i feel like it, but its a very low priority for me)

in the end, if you want it, youll get it
if you dont, then DO NOT DO IT, but do not whine about your unwillingness to do it

i mean, its not like it has a reward....
