Problem: Achievements

Thing is, the newer generation of gamer see this as "content", when it's more 'passive' content than anything. For example in a lot of shooters there's a '250 headshot' achievement, you don't specifically go for it since logically headshots are best way to kill things which means you get awarded for doing 250 headshots..doing your normal activity.

The crafting achievements are done in such a way that you'll end up near or at your goal after you level normally, because you will no doubt do most of the requirement by time you hit 47. Gathering..what do DoL do? They gather. They can't have it at just 4k in 1 spot, most people who played since 2010-2012 will most likely have their tool if they gathered for their synthesis rather than buy or they were already near it given how spread out and varied resources used to be.

As said, they're passive, designed to be done in your everyday activities, if you purely focus on it, especially as a level 50 when it was already introduced it will seem like 'content to do', but that's not what achivement systems were designed for, but knowing how developers just don't care anymore, other MMOs tend to have achivements that are in place of content, i.e "Slaughter 80 (monster you'll never, ever encounter in your playtime) then visit (NPC you'll never, ever encounter in your playtime or care for and get a title with +30 STR.)"

i have to point out one obvious flaw in this attempt to make a point. NOTHING CRAFTED NOR GATHERED BEFORE THEY WENT IN GAME COUNTS TOWARDS THE LUMINARY. no crafting nor gathering during the 2010-late 2011 counts towards the achievements at all. i had all 50's in crafting and gathering when they went in game and had absolutely zero credit for them. i did my gathering for my craft grinds, but when the achievements went in game there is 0 progress towards the luminary.

i wasn't saying it was wrong. i was pointing out the complete fallacy they were trying to point out as a fact. they stated if you did it yourself you would have already had them so i pointed out it was false. i've been working towards them myself. i only have 3 tools so far, but i've been slowly working my way towards them.

just had to straighten out a lie that stuff you did crafting and gathering from games release until now all count towards the achievement, which we both know is incorrect. it was a correction in this statement in theit post:

hmm didnt know someone said all the crafting counted, i know someone said certain leves counted(and they also said oners that didnt count did too) but didnt see the other posts

also i know for gathering alot of people completely skipped certain areas(especialy when you could gather said items in coerthas instead of one of the main 3 zones) so theyd be missing alot there too, but oh well

oh yeah i agree with you completely. i don't mind most of them. the only one i really dislike is the 100,000,000 from killing humanoids and the leve ones.

like i said i just had to correct the post from elexia about people that gathered and crafted from 2010 til now would have already had their tools once they were released. i wasn't saying they were bad just pointing out that gathers and crafts previous to the achievement itself had no progress towards them. just wanted to clarify since we are actually both on the same side on this one :P
