actualy, a few people are pretty much saying just that
some people are under the assumption that if you cant get it in a small ammount of time it shouldnt be an achievment cuz its therefore not "casual" friendly, they want quick, 1 day excursions which they can do in a few hours
when you find that some take years to do, you rage over it hoping they will change it in a shout of defiance cuz you think they actualy care.
some people just feel entitled to all the achievemnts with less work then they see being required for them

Like I said before, I don't want things to be easy, I want them to be feasible. I never made a statement that made it seem like I wanted everything in a day. I've made statements that things should be rewarding and actually make people want to stride for them. Going and getting a golden tool doesn't take a day, it doesn't even take a week, it can take up to months. Yet I didn't complain about them. I even made statements that farming for other jobs can help with the DOL achievements dramatically.actualy, a few people are pretty much saying just that

Having an achievement taking a year or so isn't much of a problem if people actually go for it. Actually, have it just be worthwhile would be enough. I think the devs were brilliant in bringing achievements into the game, and I praise them on most everything else as well. But asking someone to go out of there way, no matter how you say it, most of those long achievements require going out of your way to be done, for nothing. If it were to all come with time, not only would it be wrong for achievements, but no one would say anything. For example, the killing achievement. I know it will come with time, but if I needed 50, 100, or even 500 more, I'd go out and just finish it.
its not you i was specificaly talking about but several people in general who have posted the same thing about achievemnts over and over in these forumsLike I said before, I don't want things to be easy, I want them to be feasible. some of them are a bit farfeched(especialy the 10k local one) but if you really want them, youll go for them, there really is no other way to go about it
and if it seems rediculous, well ignoring it is a better option unless its the only thing you got left perhaps

I know someone who got 200k seals in under a week, all of the achievements are fair and completely possible. It's not like xbawks live where you get achievements for every cutscene you watch.
Achievements are extra, not compulsory/must have/super beneficial. I checked Skyrim achievement global stat on Steam
And I'm guilty of having only 48/50 achievements for Skyrim, despite Steam tells me I had 239 hours in it (mostly dressing sexy clothes on characters, and Miqo'te Mod).
My beef with Achievements in FFXIV is that you had to go all over the world to talk to NPC to unlock achievement categories.
Its one of those "What were they thinking?" type of deals. It's just really convoluted and no other video game would make you do that.
