    Preserving furnishing placement during/after relocation?

So a helpful and very convincing person on Novice Network claimed/confirmed that if you relocate to the same house/plot size, then the furnishing placement is preserved, so you don't have to redecorate the interior. This is exactly what I would want to happen.

Unfortunately when our FC relocated from a large plot to another large plot, all of our furnishings – interior and exterior – were placed into storage, so we had to painstakingly take every item out of storage and replace it in its original location. This has taken several of us several hours so far, as we originally had something like 40 outside items and 350 inside furnishings placed, and we're still not done. (Fortunately we took screenshots and a video of the old interior before moving – otherwise it would have been even harder!) The house itself, and some fixtures such as chandeliers and floors remained intact, but having to individually restore the placement for each furnishing item has been a complete pain.

Is there actually a way to relocate without having all of your furnishing items put into storage? Novice Network seemed to think so, but all the documentation I found online said that your stuff just gets dumped into storage.

No, the relocation feature always stuffs everything in storage. It's why you have to have a maximum of 400 inside, 40 outside items between storage and placed furniture before you can relocate. The person may have had private rooms transferring over in mind. Those transfer completely untouched. There's some necessity for the outside since plot layouts can differ and to a lesser extent the distinct district features (pillars/stairs/etc) for the inside.

Relocation will always storage all of your stuff, yeah. The only way to preserve layouts that I'm aware of requires some good old-fashioned ToS violation - better to just painstakingly replace everything.

I transfered from small to medium around 6 months ago.
While there isn't any prompt to "force" me to pack my furnishings into storeroom, I can perform relocation (during that time, relocation ignores housing timers)

But stepping into the new house is an empty house with all my furnishings packed into the storeroom.

That being said, small plots furnishings can be easily carried over to medium/large plots since the latter has way more capacity.
    Not too sure about downsizing.

Pretty sure that the game just tosses everything placed into the storeroom.

Yeah it wouldn't even let us move until we cleared out storage, which was very full. That was also a pain since it required hundreds of empty inventory/retainer slots.

Private rooms transferred just fine, but sadly all the furnishings got dumped into storage. The internal layout seemed identical, so it's surprising that the furnishing placement can't be preserved. Even a close approximation would be easier than having to replace every item individually. Hopefully something like that can be added in the future.

Some of which may be due to the possible internal differences in district features. For example items clipping into the stair railing if you move to a lavender beds plots from a Mist plot. It's possible it was just to keep the programming simplified and just use the same process regardless of the size of plot you're going to/from. Whatever the reason for it is, at this point everything goes into storage.

The storage actually stretches to the maximum of 400 inside, 40 outside when relocating. Once the relocation has completed however you cannot add to storage until you've gone below the default threshold for your current plot size.

Sorry you received imaccurate information from the novice network. Only private rooms transfer with no issues. On the plus side you get to decorate again!!! Maybe make it better then ever or try something new
