    Suggestion: Changing target while casting

    I would like to be able to change my target while I am casting my spells/abilities/actions and have the action execute on the new target instead of being interrupted.

    Especially for magic ranged DPS classes, I find it annoying that I spend 3 seconds to cast a skill, my target dies or otherwise becomes invalid before it executes, my casting gets interrupted, and now I have to start the casting all over again for a new target.

    Would it be a bad idea to add a second target check to the end of the cast timer and have the skill execute on the second target instead? I know in most high end raids there is only one target, the boss, but his could help combat fluidity for the normal dungeons by rewarding casters for mechanical skill ie. paying attention and switching targets before cast timer completes.

    This feels like it would be frustrating more often than it's useful. People often preemptively change targets mid cast. Mob 1 is almost dead so switch to mob 2 mid cast so you can attack it with no delay, cast a heal on the tank and switch back to the boss mid cast, etc. Personally it's pretty rare that I want to actually change the cast target mid cast.

    Good point.

    I suggest then to be able to press the skill button while casting to change who the skill executes on. So, while casting is happening, change target and press the skill again to have it execute on the new target. If you want to preemptively change targets, don't press the skill button after changing targets.

    Alternatively, maybe just have this feature as a Character setting.

    Would love that for raising players as well. Like for example,
    If you are slow casting raise but someone uses Swiftcast to raise that person. the cast will be immediately cancelled.
    Or it will raise the other dead player closest to you. That way raise never goes to waste.

    The same thing can be applied when attacking mobs. If the target dies, the spell action damages the nearest enemy.
    But I do wonder if maybe the coding won't make this possible. But I do agree that this is something needed on some jobs.
