I know I am just going to echo the sentiment people have regarding the kaiten removal.
I don't care, I'm going to do it anyway.
Devs asked for feedback so I'm giving it and I'm strongly encouraging everyone to do the same, even if it's just repeating the same arguments over and over, it needs to be stressed enough if we're expecting anything to change.
Removing kaiten was a mind-numbingly stupid decision.
The reasoning we got was "ability clutter" which makes absolutely 0 sense.
It was a single OGCD weave every once in a while, it wasn't overwhelming, it wasn't anything like dark arts where you had to use it for the same exact ability every single time, it was far more versatile and core.
Kaiten was used for things that weren't just midare and hinganbana
The biggest offender is having it taken from aoes, which got absolutely no compensation, other than making tenka more counterintuitive to use for people that have been playing the job for years.
Quick to get used to, sure, but I don't want to get used to it.
The cone made it more interactive at least. It's really a tiny thing but you have to use your brain just a tiny little bit to position yourself before you unleash this big iaijutsu aoe, that was good design.
This isn’t.
The clutter wasn't eliminated, it was shifted and dumbed down, into having to mindlessly spam shinten with occassional gyoten to manage the gauge and damage output.
It doesn't solve any imaginary problems that the dev team thought sam had, it just created more, the biggest one being the job's identity just being straight up destroyed.
Noone asked for it, drastic majority hates it, it was voiced plenty before the patch even came out and it still somehow went through. Why?
If you wanted to address this specific kind of issue, there's about a dozen of other changes that could have been made to benefit the job, yet this is what we get instead.
Not to mention there's plenty of other jobs and their respective abilities that are in a pretty serious need of this kind of attention and they get neglected in favor of what...touching and fixing something that isn't broken only to break it?
How about addressing drks unholy mess of an opener for the first minute of the fight and then the boring little 1-2-3 until cd's go off again.
That's clutter.
Samurai wasn't.
Samurai was already a pretty easy and flexible job off the get go.
The reason it’s important that the kaiten was removed is precisely the negative feedback it generated, because the backlash is massive and absolutely justified, not only in regards to this job, but the balance decisions devs are making and the direction the game is heading towards in general. Streamlining every job at the cost of its identity and quirks. This and ignoring the fact that skill curve is something people actually enjoy having in the game.
So that’s one silver lining to this, bringing attention to the greater ongoing issue.
Sadly that’s about it.
