Private housing is in total shambles

I really don't get why out of MYRIAD of other choices and ideas, they chose to go with the one that fixes the least number of problems housing have.

I mean, I do understand that for some unknown reason majority of players here think that lottery is a better system and yes, it is better in ONLY ONE aspect. You don't have to stay in front of placard for hours, damaging your health and sanity, battling against botters and occasional relocators who bypass the system. This is the only step in the right direction that they made. Aside from that, is not a better system. It doesn't fix the main problem -- you won't get a house. Well, unless you pack four leaf clovers in all places imaginable. It doesn't fix housing shortage, it doesn't make houses easier to obtain. It only makes it more "fairer" by throwing you against other one hundred poor souls who decided to throw their name into the hat and hope for the best. If you were frustrated to be competing against 20 other players (whether bots or not), how frustrated are you going to be when you're competing against 100? Or 1000, once the first couple of lottery periods have passed for the new supply to sell out and plots vacated by relocation filled again. How many swearwords and venom you will spew after losing your 10th lottery in a row?

And Im not even mentioning absolutely stupid decision of giving us piddly number of personal wards. Are they aware that FC transfers are the preferred way to RMT houses? That by giving whopping 18 wards to FCs and not limiting amount of FC houses you may own on one account, they help RMT to flourish even more? Gah.

When you think they can't screw up with housing even more they come up with something even more ridiculous. Good job, you never cease to amaze, SE.

P.S. Gonna post some screenshots on current lottery situation on my server. It's Light DC, Shiva and you can see that 2 days before lotto ends there are already up to 30 entries for houses in private wards. And considering that anyone with a modicum of brains and tactical thinking will wait until last hour to enter on the plot that is least contested, these numbers will increase drastically. In other words, good luck winning yet another cactpot.

They said at the first instance half the wards would be reserved for Fc's..not it's 75%..
For private players that want their own home and not a FC home it's become even more impossible compared to the First come first serve Spam the placard system

Why is it of any surprise that 5 or 6 other people have entered the lottery? I've never assumed that anyone's chances (my own included) would be better than 1 in some hundreds, or maybe even thousands.

If it's 1 in 6, damn, I'd be clapping my hands and celebrating over those chances.

I think the lottery system in general is fine... but the 3/1 ratio of FC vs Personal housing is ridiculous.... Why they gotta do us like that????

I read previously that Squeenix wanted to foster large, vibrant, active FC's.... honestly if its easier to get an FC house than a personal people are just going to splinter from large FC's and create new smaller ones just to get a damn house.. I'm honestly tempted to but I really love my FC and dont want to leave them just to get a house, though I'm sure there are plenty of people who would.

Yeah I'm of the opinion that this lottery cycle takes WAY too long. I feel like it should be on a 4 day cycle - 2 days lotto, 2 days off.

(I'm also of the opinion that the lotto system sucks and they shouldn't have listened to players about that, because it's going to end up with more upset players than currently. I don't think people had malicious intent with their suggestions, they genuinely think it's a good suggestion, but people who previously were ambivalent towards housing are now inputting their ticket as well, so housing interest is going up.)

Yup. Well said. And yeah, the timer is way, WAY too long. Personally, I tossed my name into the lottery for a plot anyway. Found the most back water Ishgardian plot I could find that was still something I wanted. But I'm not expecting anything at all to come of this. A chance is still a chance though.

I thought about the cycle as well at first but to be honest, it makes more sense than a shorter cycle. Some players are restricted on when they're able to play due to real life commitments. Too short a cycle and they may be able to enter but not purchase if they win. That would not be a good thing.

Relocation would disrupt what's available in the lottery after other players had already entered and lost their chance to enter on a different plot that lottery period. And it would lead back to some of the trolling we occasionally saw in the past.

Most important, relocation RMT goes right back into business. We can't stop RMT but we can at least put obstacles in the way.
