[Feedback] Add Epic Easy Anti-Cheat to FFXIV before is too late

To do this they would have to log literally everything. I doubt, that they do that. Generating those log files is VERY ressource consuming on the server side. And their servers would run out of space very quickly. And you need people who analyze those log files. This is also heavy on personal ressources.

the duty recorder exists because GMs needed to be able to investigate whether or not a report is actually true and they decided to just make a scaled-down version for the players.

trust me, it already exists and there is no technical issue. the issue is a manpower one. it'd be a full-time job for an entire team of people.

Nah frankly they just have to hijack those add on by adding better targetting fonctionnality and depht to macro you can do in pvp, if everyone have the same tools no one has an edge over others anymore.

Then don't ever make anti cheat. There are more people that use it for non harmful purposes than cheaters, and I would rather put up with a few cheaters than the non cheaters get harmed.

Unfortunately the genie is out of the bottle. Cheating is an arms race in every game and I think FFXIV is finally popular enough that 1) it's worth increasing development of these tools and 2) enough people are talking about it for everyone else to notice. A combination of more people playing and more people on watching on YouTube/Twitch means we see this much quicker. The threshold has been crossed and the communities self-policing status quo is no longer enough. Either Square Enix have to give themselves the tools to properly moderate the game or the cheating only becomes more prevalent, eventually killing the game for people playing legitimately.

Again, I'd rather have cheaters than harm people who are using them innocently. Ban the people obviously cheating [if they expand their moderation staff they can do this], but never introduce an automated solution that can ping innocent people. I will not play a game that has automated anti cheat. Period.

^This. I think I have already made it fairly clear I will not play a game that has automated anti cheat because it harms more innocent people than it does cheaters.

Just got out of 2 CASUAL Crystal Conflict games. 5 limit break attempts, 5 instant CC's nullifying them.

The cheaters are using casual to grind series rank so they won't possibly lose Ranked Rating.

Imagine if pvp was actually moderated and SE actually paid people to do something effectively.

The innocent use cases, which are already against the ToS, are not the problem but rather it's outright cheating that will only get worse. We've already seen in World of Warcraft, a game with addons (plugins) being a officially supported feature, just how far the community will go and how much it impacts the overall gameplay experience. Unless SE act, FFXIV will have the same fate in terms of both plugins but also just straight cheating.

The PvP mode is pretty much as good as dead if cheating is openly allowed to continue. The tool is already pretty well developed and it's only adding more features. More importantly, what happens if this blatant and open cheating makes it's way to other areas of the game? There's enough players that are willing to do it that it'll become a problem for all content. The secret is out now, there's no hiding it, something has to be done and "legitimate" plugin usage may have to be on the chopping block as part of this.
