I think a lot of people are going to end up disappointed with island sanctuary probably not fixing housing problems or being instanced housing.![]()

Part of me hopes they're aware the fans have built it up into something it's not and are desperately trying to tack a house on to it, hence not getting it in 6.1 anymore. I have no horse in that particular race, already housed up myself, but if it's as barebones as I sometimes get the impression it is then I'm not sure what the hold-up is.
Ye this is the number 1 reason they can act as they do. If you look the weaker WOW got the more lazy they get. Problem is there no new mmo out soon that can be the competition. It's because this game doesn't have legitimate competition. If it did, they would find a way to fix housing issues overnight and Hrothies would actually have ears with their new hairstyles. Actual competition, mind you. Not some korean style BDO that I already forgot what the title was.
Oh, apologies. I'm at work so I can't reply in detail. I just meant thread not threat. Autocorrect can be a handful sometimes. <.<'No worries, it's not a threat at all, sorry if it came off that way. While you are right in saying that every game has problems, I think me and many people think that housing in this game is simply an abject failure. A casual look at our competitors shows our system is not only inferior, but just straight up doesn't work. A friend of mine recently started lost ark, and he got his house in one week!!! Imagine a sprout doing that in ffxiv. I would be more willing to tolerate this system with its flaws, but after punching placards for one and a half years, losing the lottery to 0, a person who literally does not exist, I think it is quite clear that whatever positives housing has don't outweigh the disappointment the players have felt since, well, since housing was introduced. You are from spriggan as well, I'm sure you know of the fc that owns an entire ward in the goblet. The system, and the housing team, just simply does not work. They need to put in more time and effort to make the system not terrible, and they are simply too incompetent to do so. If they're not willing to fix their own problems and wipe their own arse, let it burn and recruit people with actual good ideas to redo it from scratch, in my opinion. I think I can speak on behalf of many, if not all players, that we do not want to deal with this shitty system for the next decade.
Ffxiv survived 1.0 reboot, we can handle housing reboot. #rebootffxivhousing
Your theory makes sense why they delayed housing sanctuary. They saw player's expectations and decided to pull back to improve it.Part of me hopes they're aware the fans have built it up into something it's not and are desperately trying to tack a house on to it, hence not getting it in 6.1 anymore. Problem is there no where to go as mmo go. Sadly, games like gw2 and eso look terrible by now and that if you ever liked how they play.I mean, do they though? We keep hearing about issues and problems that have been around for literal years. The game going down the toilet for years. The developers ignoring the players for years. And yet, those same players with those same complaints are still playing (and paying).
I'm not saying there isn't some sort of breaking point or, more likely, a slow leakage of players, but it's a little laughable to imply that all of a sudden there's going to be some sort of mass exodus due to the recent (and very real) issues. There's just too many players who are too addicted and obsessed with the game to quit regardless of what they believe the developers are doing with the game.
Oh I can tell you when we're getting instanced housing: never. If it hasn't happened by now when the housing system has been a huge source of angst for years, I don't see if ever happening. I honestly, truly believe that Square Enix either does not care or does not fully understand the extent of the frustration and disappointment around housing, or does not believe it's enough to actually drive people away from the game so they don't bother fixing it. I know there are excuses given for why they can't do X or Y but I do really find it hard to believe that it's actually impossible to introduce bigger apartments or instanced houses or any of the myriad solutions that people have proposed over the years.
I do appreciate the content we do get, but I don't appreciate the blinders the devs apparently wear when it comes to listening to their fanbase- All I'm asking is for more transparency. More honest communication. Like, tell us when something is taking longer bc of issues, tell us when we are getting instanced housing, tell us the best way to get our point across.
Protest by cancelling your subscriptions. Or talk about cancelling subs-
either way, it might help get the point across.
EDIT: In regards to the OP though, honestly I'm not someone who frequents the official forums (until yesterday because I was curious to see the fallout from the lottery debacle) so this is actually the first I'm hearing about EW's story being "controversial". Everything I'd heard so far was that it was another success.

I find it funny that some ffxiv content creator are in the camp of don't roll back servers despite the a bug in random generators and just let people that lost get screwed to the wind where this proves more point the current design of the house ownership need a major overhaul. I suggest that so called "graphical update" that they are working on it need to be put on the back burn and those resources need to be put towards fix housing. I will say yoshi need to come with something to satisfy everybody and not a long winded apology.
As far as I'm concerned, Square is not allowed to mess up on making a working random number generator. I was taught how to make one during gcses in high school. A line has gotta be drawn somewhere and I am drawing it right here. People are free to disagree of course. But to the layman like me, this screams incompetence.
I'm not sure why many people are saying we should try to offer solutions to be honest. We're random people on the Internet. If we could solve their issues for them they better give us a job offer.
Furthermore, the housing debacle can't be fixed. Rollback everything? People who win, despite there being a possible bias in the system, get fucked. Don't rollback? People who didn't win gets fucked. Do the lottery again? Everyone gets fucked. Yoshi-p isn't gonna be able to “please understand" out of this one. Housing was a shitshow in ffxiv since time immemorial, this change was supposed to show us the housing team aren't incompetent idiots. They failed kek
What is the team doing? I don't know, but definitely not housing improvements that's for sure
