This right here, is the most sensible post Ive seen yet.The official forums are just the venting grounds, I was venting a bit too until 6.1 rebuilt confidence. They used to be a bit better though, like people were still whiny messes in ARR (me too) but the WoW exodus had a highly obvious effect and some people just found that type of miasma to stew in due to it.
Consider that this is the largest x.1 we've had by a fair clip, and we have the handful of denizens on this forum complaining about the exact opposite right in its wake. Just the roadmap listing for 6.2 makes 5.2 look like anemic by comparison. COVID ran a spike through Shadowbringers, as they stressed about 3 times, and we're barely now recovering. That much is obvious.
I do think people are in the right about job design though. It's not "ruined" or anything but it's on a worrying trend. Healing has always been a confused mess, from ARR to now, it isn't a recent occurance. I really wish they'd just give up on it and make the PvP WHM a reality. XIV is a game about puzzles and patterns, it's scripted and its rough to make exciting healing for that.
So gimmie my damn lily beam and seraph strike.
"What is going on with Square Enix"
A lot, 3 new AAA games with devs allocated to meaningless tasks.
"What is going on with 14 team"
Most likely a mash of new hires, new direction and the title of "End of the Saga".
I'm expecting Endwalker patches to be somewhat of a buggy mess since they decided to update the spaghetti code in the middle of the expansion.
It's a big fuck up on their end, people will unsubscribe, they will fix it and that's the end of the story.
Don't worry about Kaurhz, She works for SE and HAS to lick their boots to earn her measly salary. It's the same whenever she comes across even the slightest critiscism.
You should probably my other posts, but of course, you don't where I've openly stated in this very thread that their content is too thinly spread, or when I openly stated I didn't like (but understood) their direction for the oversimplification for crafting.
As I said, criticisms are not homogenous, I have different criticisms from other people. Similarly, they have different criticisms from me. But thank you for proving my point for the second time today, it really makes that measly salary worth it!![]()
The Hrothgar stuff is pretty inexcusable and the housing issue that happened is just salt to the wound.. and honestly I’m seeing more problems in the future just because it seems they are tip toeing around the problem with their old game engine.
why even bother? You should actually do something sensible and vote with your wallet by unsubbing this game, right now. There's no value here anymore.
I've felt this way since SHB. I was an AST main back in StB and ended up switching to WHM because I hated the AST changes. Then I got tired of Glare spam and started playing more dps. I think I was distracted by the story in SHB and it wasn't until a little while after I finished the story that I started realizing the game just felt different. I'm not sure how to explain it but I could feel that the game was headed in a different direction.Between the healer problems for 6 years being ignored, the recent Hrothgar problems where they waited patiently for 3 years and got literal shit, to the horrid job design in 6.1, the pretty controversial story of EW, to now the housing system just imploding on itself. Do the devs just not care anymore? The game is seeing it’s peak, the game is bringing in more money than ever, and yet we’re somehow getting more broken systems. I guess this is what happens when they let the popularity get to their head? They start thinking they can half ass everything and people will continue to stay and kiss up to them.
And now I'm just wondering what are they thinking? I'm not sure if they've gotten a little arrogant now or just "comfortable" because they know a lot of players will stick with the game no matter what decisions they make because Yoshi P is their lord and savior, but whatever it is they need a reality check. I was kind of surprised at Yoshi P's reaction to the Hrothgar criticism though. That response was just weird and felt kind of snarky. We literally have screenshots of him telling the players what he would do in 2019 and now all of a sudden it's "well if you guys are gonna complain so much then we MIGHT consider doing this..."
Like what?
I miss the halcyon days of Stormblood and gameplay driven content. Now all we have is people going "....but muh story good!". You have to have a gameplay loop in an videogame, but SE has been making that worse and worse with each expansion. All flash and frivolous features over meaty gameplay. Now they can't seem to even QA a simple system. Shameful.
My of love of this game aside. Yes, its time for issues to get fixed. I was one of many who said a lotto system was bad idea. Happy its recieving such negative feedback, my sympathy to those hit by the bug. But glad that happened as well I really hope its gets the dev's attention. Its time for
-Instanced housing
-Complete review and overhaul of Healers
-Dungeons seeing more complexity,
+Trash being more mechanical.
+Less hallway feel
-Better balance between casual and hardcore crafting.
-Avoiding of the rollercoaster feeling pacing of EW story. Ya, like the story but its pacing felt like a rollercoaster.
-veira and hoth getting proper attention.
-More effort put into curving botting and rmt..
