Or maybe I'm just not meant to understand what goes on in other peoples' heads.
For some reason, some who invest a lot of time in the game seem to take a tribalist mentality with it where pointing out any flaw that can and should be fixed is some hate-fueled act. Reality is, I hate a great many games. I barely comment on any of them. Because I don't care for them. But I love XIV, so if I feel like it's declining, I have a dog in this race and I feel like most people who act the way I do too. Sure, there may be a troll here or there who bashes the game for fun, but honestly? I'm only saying that to cover my bases. I have yet to see that happen. I've even demanded proof from those who would insist we're simply toxic and hate-filled, only to receive a "I don't need to prove anything to you" in return, effectively implying no such act was found.

It's also why I've been losing more and more of my patience with those like Ikara. I truly, genuinely, and absolutely want this game to do well so I can continue to enjoy playing it for years to come as a result of both what XIV is and, let's be honest, the poor health of the MMO market as of late. To essentially be told I'm not welcome to play a game I love because I might maybe, I don't know, want to enjoy housing? Have races that work? Finally remove all genderlocked clothing? Have the devs be more transparent with us?

Like those things I mentioned up there are minor, but for some esoteric reason, even they can't be solved. A double-standard as any other game would be raked over the coals for this failure, but XIV gets a pass. And another pass. And another pass. Until our expectations are so embedded into the floor it may as well be a grave and I'd very much like to keep games I like outside of those.
