The devs are huge sticklers for balance so anything unique will be visually only it seems. On top of that, why make a drawback a unique feature? It would be like having half of Sam's skills damage scale based on the amount of gil they have and can throw a set amount for extra damage. It's a pretty unique feature of the class but the devs would shoot that idea down at conception, lol. It's the same idea, if LD was introduced now it would function more or less the same without the debuff that kills.
