Pretty much, yeah. I'll just add the the design philosophy is not the main issue here. Of course people there are pros and cons to the design philosophy of FFXIV, as with any other game. The main issue is saying that someone should be fired just because they have a different view about a subject, when said view is harmless.

That's not arguing. That's just hate.

If I'm honest, I'm fairly certain his comment was made in reference to a Q/A or a tour event where someone asked what Yoshida recommends when they're going through a content drought, or so forth, and his response was just to try other games, play other games. But at this point, his original intent has had people playing 'Simon Says' so it has lost all original meaning at this point. This has only been echoed through other comments he has made elsewhere including:

"I think it is important that we come in contact with new games. It's a new kind of stimulation, so it keeps us fresh."

I've had my fill of these threads anyway. I'm going to carry on playing games, plural.

ff14 has problems, sure. but I dare anyone to name an online game that doesn't have problems. What's important is that the positive outweighs the negative, and with teh awesome story, great raids, the good pvp update (though i'm not a pvper i'm no expert on that) the plethora of side content that there is to do, I think the odd glitch here and there can be tolerated.

That's not arguing. That's just hate.

People hate and I mean hate the housing system. But generally no one has said they should be fired for the idea of the system. And all discussion of why they can't do something else has been ignored, that isn't a big deal. We aren't owed answers. People have asked for others to be fired when they make mistakes. Not releasing a stable product 2.0, lieing about housing 2.0, stability issues and cash grab transfers HW, designing a whole expansion around instances and not having a system in place to use instances, repeated login server issues over the whole games life span, lotto bugged. These aren't design philosophy issues and they have worked on some of these issues.



But you make it sound like peoples competency and employment shouldn't be questioned when multiple mistakes are made. See now we are at philosophical difference. Some people feel a certain level of accountability in life should be maintained, yet clearly you don't see it the same way.

It’s not about what game has or doesn’t have problems, that’s not the point. That’s a horrible way to look at criticism. “Oh every game has problems so the odd glitch can be tolerated” Hrothgar hairs being absolute shit isn’t an odd glitch. The devs laughing at them isn’t an odd glitch. An entire role getting gutted for 6 years isn’t an odd glitch. Dps jobs getting gutted now isn’t an odd glitch. Pvp being an unbalanced and buggy mess isn’t an odd glitch(technically).

Your positives are all subjective. Many people didn’t enjoy the story. A lot of people found the new ex trial to be a joke and hardly difficult, same with the alli raids. Plethora of side content? What is there to do this patch in regards to side stuff outside of role quests and pvp?

Anyhow though, in regards to island sanctuary other people are mentioning, i think even the devs themselves stated to not get your hopes up and that it wouldn’t be a substitute for housing. I will say though if they manage to implement instanced housing for it last minute within a patch….that’s a bit of a slap in the face because then it doesn’t seem that complex at all and it makes me wonder why they haven’t done that with housing as a whole(obviously it’s a grander scale but they clearly have the means to do it).

Well that’s what happens when you choose to not listen to your players and instead pick a hill to die on for your own selfish reasons as a developer. Whilst also taking what, 6-8 years to even address the problem in the first place. Sorry i have 0 sympathy for them.

Hrothgar hairs being a problem ain’t subjective. Cutting off the ears of a race due to hair? Yeah no that’s an objective failure “friend.” Viera and hrothgar not being able to wear certain helms isn’t subjective, it’s an objective flaw. Try another one though you guys are great and bending over backwards for the devs. I’m sure you would like me to unsub so i stop pointing out flaws in your beloved perfect game.

I think that most reasonable people can see that situations like the Hrothgar hairstyle situation and the repeated mishandling of player housing aren't really 'subjective'. I think what some people really mean is that because they, specifically, don't care about issues that affect players other than themselves then they'd rather have everybody stick their fingers in their ears and pretend problems don't exist as well. Or take their leave of the game entirely, which isn't an uncommon suggestion from those all too eager to try and gatekeep what players like, dislike and want to see more or less of.
