Yeah because folks advocating for people to spend their time on more positive endeavors or things they enjoy more is gatekeeping and frequency determining. As an aside, here's a relevant thread to answer that particular question:

Of course, there's many other reasons in addition to those outlined within the thread itself but we certainly don't need self proclaimed gatekeepers trying to police who says what and the frequency of feedback at that.
This feel like the WoW forums....
People crying.
It's the official forum for the game itself. It's the primarily location for providing feedback and discussing the game.
MMO's are by their very nature a long term investment. As such, people don't generally just want to walk away on a whim and would prefer to say their piece before cutting ties altogether.
If and when someone reaches the point where they're completely burnt out on the game and have no faith that things will change course or improve in a way that appeals to them then they'll simply depart without any need for encouragement from anybody else.
Sure some will. But ik for a fact some of you are here to complain for the sake of doing so. Some complain for the sake of trying to start fires. I don't buy the whole "we ALL complain because we care". I'd be willing to say most of you do but I'll never believe all do it in good faith. I'm simply saying spend time elsewhere as you've said your piece. Not saying drop the game full sale but man, doesn't it get old doing this? At the end of the day it's a forum for a video game. I don't really tap into conspiracy theories about what the intent of any given poster may or may not be and tend to assume they're operating in good faith unless they're lashing out at other posters.Sure some will. I doubt I'm the only one who posts a lot as a consequence of it being a social experience. Most of the people I speak to actively about FFXIV are people I've met through this very forum, so that in itself is reason enough for me to continue posting for as long as I invest the game itself.
Some people will like my posts, others won't. That's the way of the world and I wouldn't want to be everybody's cup of tea either.
The funny thing is that a lot of these tropes were featured in FF before (or around the same time as) anime became infamous for them.
FFXIV's story had all the trappings of a standard Final Fantasy game for as long as I've been playing. The closest thing to an exception we've ever gotten was Shadowbringers and that's mostly because FF stories generally aren't written with that level of nuance to their characters. FFIX had transformation sequences as limit breaks and the series as a whole has had ridiculous summoning animations that wouldn't be out of place in a late 1990's to early 2010's Super Robot anime ever since VII. The Power of Friendship (and Love) has been a major theme to the series ever since IV.
HW in particular was pretty much the platonic ideal of FF stories until EW came along. Gods bad, religion bad, dragons cool but also sometimes bad, Moogles, you name it.
It's just really jarring because ShB was meaningfully different in a lot of ways. Even the fights lacked much of the dramatic flair (to their detriment imo) until the patches came along.
Yep, a lot of me posting here is just using it as a social outlet. It's a game I am interested in, so naturally I like to talk about it. I've been playing this game, and using the forums for years, so it is sort of a routine to check the forums at different times. Most of the people I have met online have been through various online games, and FFXIV was no different. You could say the forums is kind of like my game chat, because I don't actively interact with anyone in-game.At the end of the day it's a forum for a video game. Been there, done that. I had unsub for multiple times, the longest one is nearly a year due to burnout and content draught. Sure, it helps a bit that when big patch/expac drops, I get to enjoy new things. However, after each breaks, I also noticed that the game keep going into the direction I hate more and more. And that feeling just won't go away no matter how many time I take a break from the game.
As a game becomes more popular, more people become interested in campaigning to control its direction. At which point anyone with an opinion opens with 'If you don't obey the following manifesto of demands, I'm gonna unsub/your company will go bankrupt.' This is especially true if you draw players over from the Blizzard forums, where this is an ancient rhetorical art honed and passed down over generations since Classic Warcraft. The traditional counterplay if you don't agree with their rubbish demands is to accept the gambit and call their bluff, and follow up by asking if you can have their stuff on the way out the door. The bail-out response when this counterplay is executed is to become indignant, say that you have the right to pay a monthly sub to play pretend Twitter on the official forums, and storm off in a tizzy for a couple hours before coming back to repost the exact same thing when everyone has forgotten about the original exchange.
And it's a fair point. If you're getting a good PvP experience from the official forums, it might be worth the price of a sub. And it's easy enough to tune out this recycled banter, except for the fact that many of the suggestions that accompany this behavior are truly awful takes and should relentlessly be stamped out by the broader playerbase.
