What is going on with Square Enix and the 14 team?

Except many of us have been "campaigning" to see improvements in certain areas for years. I think many people confuse why this game got so succesful in recent years. It's because there is a lack of quality alternatives, and a good foundation. EW's success and surge of players has more to do with WoW's recent direction, and streamers bringing their armies of followers, than how ShB was going. In fact, many players of this game are proclaimed "WoW refugees". FFXIV has a lot to thank WoW for, for alienating so many players they have/had no better alternatives when it comes to mmorpgs.

Many games are simply just better than FFXIV in terms of combat & mechanics, it's everything else that makes people go to FFXIV.

Especially the gearing of characters.

The ability to have every job on a **single** character is a major draw. Not having to juggle multiple characters is nice.

Gotta say this has kinda ruined other games for me hehe. Its a very nice system imo, and one of the biggest things I love about FF

The only minor criticism I have of this is that it doesn't count for endgame. You can have 1 or 2 BiS characters, after that the raid tier is long since irrelevant before you can gear any more. I'd love to mess about with more alt jobs in Savage without knowing that I'm at a 10-20ilv disadvantage to everyone else on their main.
With actual alts, they all gear separately.

But apart from that it's a huge plus and I have no idea why other games haven't adopted the idea more.

Lost Ark unironically has better midcore grinds than FF14 does.

Maybe FF14 should take a page from Smilegate's playbook.

Collecting Mokokos are a joy compared to literally every other collectible in FF14.

The game could definitely do for more things to do and strive. Sometimes it is about the little things. Mokokos aren't overly grindy, with rewards at various milestones. This game could do with more things like that for sure. I just want more things to be rewarding to do in general. It feels like there is a stranglehold on any collectibles, glamours, etc. that get released, so whatever does get released now gets put into ridiculous grinds if it is desirable, or it's just straight up junk like the stupid sparklers or whatever - the things that float over your head.
