What is going on with Square Enix and the 14 team?

My biggest issue with the game right now is that we are what? 5 days into the new patch and I have cleared the alliance raid, unreal, ex, done some pvp, finished the MSQ, and this with only a few hours per evening ( I have barely played for the past 2 days).
So now I have 4 months full of nothing but a few weapons to farm (1 hour/weapon), 30 min/week alliance raids, 15 min unreal and slowly ( very slowly) climbing trought the pvp reward track.
6.15 isn't even promising, because this time, we won't have Ishgard restoration, but more 1 time cutscenes content with 10 min/day beast tribe quests.
And no, I don't do Ultimate. Maybe I should, but it's not for me and 99% of the playerbase.

Where's the midterm content SE? Why, for example, adding relic weapons on .2 patch when we are in a dire need of lvl 90 content on .1 patch?

Sorry haven’t been able to post cuz i was at my post limit lol. Wanted to let you know in case my silence painted it otherwise i wasn’t annoyed at all by people talking about the story, like i said before i mentioned it in my original post anyhow so it makes sense it would be brought up eventually! I’m happy we were able to have a peaceful conversation about it without it devolving to snark or passive aggressiveness(can’t say the same for the other posters that entered the fray though) but i enjoyed our convo and wouldn’t have minded continuing it had people not expressed major disinterest and annoyance.

Anyhow though, in regards to island sanctuary other people are mentioning, i think even the devs themselves stated to not get your hopes up and that it wouldn’t be a substitute for housing. I will say though if they manage to implement instanced housing for it last minute within a patch….that’s a bit of a slap in the face because then it doesn’t seem that complex at all and it makes me wonder why they haven’t done that with housing as a whole(obviously it’s a grander scale but they clearly have the means to do it).

The praise for Endwalker's story is pretty universal for the most part, outside of a small handful of forum posters overstating their personal dislike of the story and pretending it represents some kind of silent majority.

Mostly I see people giving high praise for Endwalker's story, with the caveat that it doesn't quite match up to Heavansward or Shadowbringers, but it's nowhere near the universal consensus of being "less good" like Stormblood's story is.

I dont think its a small handful of forum posters. Im in about 5-6 lore discord servers with about over 100 people each, and most in each one just found the lore and plot developments in EW to be extremely inconsistent. I think even a fair amount of non-lore followers expressed sadness in seeing garlemald in ruins and not getting to explore it in its entirety as well. When i mention the divide being bigger than SB i moreso mean, at least around the time i was playing, the general consensus seemed to be either this story sucks so much, or oh its okay its not as bad as people make it out ot be. Whereas with EW its either oh this story is absolutely amazing or its wow this is the worst story told in this games lifetime. Theres a lot of interesting opinions but i recall a favorite expansion thread and EW was ranked pretty low for even non-lore forum posters.

I think in the end though it also didnt help that the devs had to answer major lore questions in the QnA because they didnt address them at all in the story itself, the story that was supposed to be ending the arc.

I was reading this thread and honestly I think people here are crazy.

One of the first replies said that YoshiP should be fired because he says it's cool if you play other games.

Criticism is fine, and necessary, but let's be rational here.

Many people are just clung to the idea that MMOs should ultimately consume a significant amount of time, and be a 'one size fits all' type scenario with many people being allergic to the prospect of other games fitting their memo better. This is not to say the game is without fault and nor should critique be made, but I think when the critique is a contradiction or a deviation of their game design philosophy, then it just stands to say there are ultimately other places that might be better accommodating of needs.

I can see his mindset being a double-edged sword, especially from a business standpoint, but if I were to look in certain areas, I think it becomes woefully obvious why the mindset of playing something else is not a bad one.

Pretty much, yeah. I'll just add the the design philosophy is not the main issue here. Of course people there are pros and cons to the design philosophy of FFXIV, as with any other game. The main issue is saying that someone should be fired just because they have a different view about a subject, when said view is harmless.

If I'm honest, I'm fairly certain his comment was made in reference to a Q/A or a tour event where someone asked what Yoshida recommends when they're going through a content drought, or so forth, and his response was just to try other games, play other games. But at this point, his original intent has had people playing 'Simon Says' so it has lost all original meaning at this point. This has only been echoed through other comments he has made elsewhere including:

"I think it is important that we come in contact with new games. It's a new kind of stimulation, so it keeps us fresh."

I've had my fill of these threads anyway. I'm going to carry on playing games, plural.
