There's a lot of wishy washy language in that post. If you look at the 2nd part, they say a lot but don't exactly say what went wrong. One: You're a horrible person for wishing joblessness on someone for a simple fixable mistake.
Two: You're completely wrong on the source of the problem anyway, the RNG did fine: https://na.finalfantasyxiv.com/lodes...7fcff58ee4f9c5
Veteran healers don't care if we need to heal, but right now we don't. We want interesting things to do during the downtime other than a 30s dot and a single filler spell that hasn't changed from lvl 4 to lvl 90.
Dead DPS do no DPS. Raised DPS do 25/50% lower DPS. Do the mechanics and don't stand in bad stuff.
Other games expect basic competence, FFXIV is pleasantly surprised by it. Other games have toxic elitism. FFXIV has toxic casualism.[/LIST]
They say that it was a communication issue between the server that handles the lottery and the server that handles the housing data. Not sure how that is them not saying what went wrong.
Could have been a network issue.
Could have been a database deadlock of some sort (seems most likely if the lotteries were all done at the same time).
I'm not sure that any additional details would necessarily change anything. I guess I'm confused on what more you were expecting.
Not to mention it wasn't even an RNG error as (apparently) every single armchair coder assumed it was on 4/16.
