Update on the issue:

Hello, this is Naoki Yoshida, Producer and Director of FINAL FANTASY XIV.

I sincerely apologize for the inconvenience caused by the issue with the housing lottery system. Allow me to explain the current situation and our next steps as we investigate the problem.

Firstly, we understand that this is a major issue, and are prioritizing our investigation into the matter. We are working to identify the issue in the corresponding program; however, as the process is very complex and there are many patterns involved for the lottery conditions, it will require some time to pinpoint the problem.

We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience, but we ask for your patience a little while longer as focus our efforts on the investigation.

As we investigate and address the issue, we will be extending the result announcement period which was previously set to end on Wednesday, April 20, 2022 at 7:59 a.m. (PDT).

* We will not enter into the next lottery cycle until the investigation is complete and the situation is addressed.

We apologize for the inconvenience this is causing to our players. We will continue to work on identifying the cause of the issue and addressing it so that the lottery system correctly determines the winner and displays the proper results.

Yeah that means instead of Wednesday being the end of the result and being of the new lottery for whatever left means now got to wait till Thursday or later for results and watch them tell you sorry for the trouble but gonna have to enter a new 5day lottery period and hope dosent screw up again

There's quite a bit to sort out. The bug where there were bids but it says there were none is holding the bid gil hostage, so even if they just go that route, they still need to ensure refunds can be processed for those bids. If they instead do a reroll, they need to make sure there's appropriate time for players to be notified and then a buffer period to claim the plot. They can't just assign the plot to winners due to fcs being able to bid on multiple plots.

Many fc's didn't bid on multiple plots. They should be able to allow for the only person in an fc who bid on a plot against no one to win that plot. I wish to also know if people will be barred the 30 days before bidding again, so one person from my fc will have to bid instead of me. I think they should very much grant the solo bidders on plots the ability to claim, just that there would likely be issues if they tried to automatically forgo the claim process and just assign the houses/relocations. At least they're able to stall the current lotto phase so they can work through it without the timer ticking down. The 30 day thing is just the time someone has to have been in the fc before they can make a bid on behalf of the fc. As long as you don't leave the fc, once you've hit the initial 30 days and have relevant permissions you can continue to bid on behalf of the fc.

This happened to all three FC's I know that were looking for a house including my own. I will get a picture of mine, but wow. No one bid because everyone was being cordial and not betting on houses so everyone got an FC house and we all lost to 0. Brilliant! Can we fix this and give the ONLY person biding on an FC house the house please instead of losing to an invisible participant. What a 'lottery' when 0 won a ton and it wasn't even a participant.

It will mess up again until the 50/50 chance of you winning to 0. with ffxiv rng that could be months, years, or next lotto. They need to fix this by only pooling from actual participants in the lottery not also 0 which isn't a person.

I would like for him to just give everyone who bet against no one their darn fc house. For the love of all things just go into the code give character house. Done. It is like this in every back end for any game I have worked in similar to when they give you item you never received from mogstation or replace an item you may have deleted by accident. There should be a variable in the code that is a yes or no does this person have house and what the house is.

I think you some of you are getting way too technical and some of the posts are convoluted when they need not be. A lot of people make great points, but regardless of what they did, the RNG code is created by a person, and they inputted 0 as one of the possible choices for output. I have coded in Python and Mathematica before, and if you import random, and then you list the parameters, e.g. list=1,2,3,4,5... It is pretty easy to see, that when they listed their parameters for the housing lottery system, they included 0 (zero) in the list of possible choices that could be rolled. If they did in fact did put zero into their list, as in: listhousing or list1 (whatever you want to call it) = 0,1,2,3,4,5..., when as stated earlier, it should have been list1=1,2,3,4,5...

If what I stated is correct, then in all fairness, they should roll back EVERYONE's bids, because if 0 (zero) was counted as a possible RNG choice, then EVERY roll is invalidated and needs to be done again. I know it sucks for some people, but in all fairness, if zero (0) was included, then redoing it is the most fair solution.

This is unbelievingly disappointing. Like a lot of people here I was the only participant in the bid for a plot and did not win. Speaking for myself, after finishing the main EW MSQ relatively quickly I have spent the last few months just waiting for housing. It was the next big ticket activity in the game as far as I am concerned and now this. I am actually not sure what I will do if I don't end up getting a house, not sure if the game is really worth playing right now without it. Just so disappointed.
