When are the Devs going to balance old ultimates?

Ultimates are supposed to be a real test of skill, right? Well power creep is a thing and it exists in FF14. The absolute tomfoolery that you have to do in UwU now in order to generate enough LB to survive Ultima after suppression is absolutely bonkers to me. Skip dashes are a thing, skip wicked wheel, kill at roulette. UCoB isnt a stranger to this either. You completely skip the last 2 mechanics in Twintania, you can kill Nael BEFORE divebombs, and the dps check on Bahamut is an absolute joke. You push past the dps check before Tenstrike consistently. TEA isn't immune to this either now that some of the melee get their mastery for more potency at a lower level (74). Killing at protean 2 is a thing. Killing BJ/CC wayyy too fast is an issue and it was an issue near the end of SHB. DPS check where? 2 deaths in APrime is easily recoverable and clearable, even 3 deaths. Where is the love for some of your hardest content? I remember so much hype, but now most of that is overshadowed by "Dang, we killed it before x?" Yoshi P says "Just do Ultimates" Nice joke brother, UwU is a glorified savage at this point.

Several things, but I’ll keep it short.

Part of the problem with these fights is part of the reason they’re so hard is blind prog. It’s less to do with actual prog with mechanics known but how hard it is to blind prog. But how many people will want to do that in this day and age unless it’s new? I doubt you’d find too many.

The next part is actually having Square care about balancing content below current level cap at all. And that’s a whole discussion on its own.

Also wasn’t Bahamut’s DPS check on launch still a joke? I feel like it was.

The one upside is that if they cared enough they could easily fix this issue. And it’s not even an issue of “fix xyz skills” they literally could just staple more health to the bosses to make them the closest equivalent to what they were. Which leads to the downside of they haven’t done this and that’s weird. And it’s all just because they locked the ilvl to a set level for all of them that’s very close to the min ilvl.

Not really. Ultimate difficulty comes from if you have the endurance for a 15-minute fight or not. It doesn’t have much to do with blind prog because a lot of groups don’t blind prog them but still take weeks to kill them anyways. They’re gauntlets, and that’s where the true challenge comes from.

Trios Bahamut kind of. You were allowed maybe 5 DPS deaths if your static was good. Golden Bahamut had hardly no room for error at launch. If a DPS died during, you likely weren’t clearing if your group was of average skill. The only chance you’d have is if your group was extremely good, and the death occurred late in Golden. If you had a death at the start, you were done.
