As a preface, I started playing FFXIV about two years ago and got into the savage raiding scene at the end of the third Eden tier. Since I'm a relatively new player in comparison to the game's age, I have unfortunately missed much of the game's savage scene thus far. This is a shame, because I would love to have a method for experiencing these fights. Currently the only way to do this is to find a static party, but my schedule isn't good for a static environment (I'm sure this is true for a lot of players). Party finder is a much better way for me to progress through these fights since I can hop in and out of parties whenever I want.
Additionally, I want to point out that most savage raiders can agree that the current savage raid loot system is lackluster. The way that the current loot system works prevents players from playing many alternate classes. It takes a very long time to gear up a single class, and the experience can be rather frustrating. Savage players who have cleared the newest savage tier only play once a week when reset happens. It would be nice to have more overall engagement in the savage raiding scene for those who want it.
Suggestion: My suggestion to FFXIV is a system that promotes both previous expansion savage content and the replay of new savage content. So, say that the game randomly selects a grouping of 4 previous savage fights for 2 months (i.e. Eden 5-8). Each would drop a replay token for one of the corresponding fights in the newest raid tier. You would need to play these fights synced to earn a token (with or without echo). The replay token would be a usable item that resets the weekly reward lock for a given fight.
So, for example:
e5s -> p1s replay token.
e6s -> p2s replay token.
...
so on.
I know this would not work with some raid tiers, namely the ones in ARR. However, I think it would really encourage newer players to play previous content. Some of the previous content in this game is AMAZING, and I think populating these tiers once again would make the savage raiding scene so much better.
