Thread: Game constantly crashing after 6.1 patch

After patch 6.1 installed, I started having issues where I would get Direct X 11 errors every time I did a certain MSQ quest. I used the "system restore" tool on the launcher, and that fixed it, however, then I started having an issue where the game would close and dx11 error would occur whenever I tried to enter my house. I reinstalled windows, and did a FULL uninstall/reinstall of FF14 and that fixed that issue.

However, now I am having an issue where the game force closes every time I try to enter Empyreum or the Firmament, and my character is currently loaded into Empyreum so the game will force close whenever I try to log in, making me unable to play. Since I have reinstalled the game several times AND reinstalled Windows, this is obviously an issue with the patch that needs to be addressed in a hotfix asap. I am not the only person having this issue, I am seeing it very widespread.

It's really annoying that it's obviously an issue people are having and SE isn't addressing it at all. I did open a ticket, but I'm getting very frustrated that I'm now paying for a game that I can't play.

Also, no I do not have any overlays or anything of the sort

We apologize for the delay in response to this issue. We suggest to perform a clean boot by opening the task manager and selecting the 'Start up' Tab. Then, Disable everything. Additionally, can you submit a Final Fantasy XIV system report? Simply go to the 'Config' option on the Final Fantasy XIV launcher and to the right of 'System Information' click on 'Display'. Lastly, are you able to access other characters?
