being able to level all jobs in one character is very convenient for multiple reasons, but one massive downside i see few people talking about is that gear lockouts are character-wide rather than job-specific, which makes playing multiple jobs (that don't share a gear type) a much bigger hurdle than it should be, and to my knowledge, there's no way to work around these lockouts other than just "settle for inferior gear on your other jobs", which isn't a good feeling to have.

one simple solution i came up with is this: instead of spending tomestones/tokens on getting specific items, the system could be changed so that these currencies are used to unlock a specific slot on the vendor, and once that slot is unlocked you can buy any item for that slot for free (similar to how job gear is acquired)

for instance: instead of spending X tomestones to buy a tank chestpiece, you spend X tomestones to unlock chestpieces on the vendor, and then you can get as many of the different chestpieces as you want.

this way, people who only play 1 job or 1 role would still take the same amount of time to get all their gear and people who like playing multiple different roles wouldn't have to settle for an inferior set on each of their other jobs. this would even encourage more people to play different roles since they'd already have the gear for it available.
