Cheating and RMT exploitation has hit a new level of ridiculous.

The thing is that SE never respond to such things to the reporter apart from the boilerplate stuff. They are passed to a central team who (for some reason) decides to ban in waves rather than as and when reported.

Botting is of course a serious issue but it is also good that a GM does not take a player word for it - they investigate and so malicious reporting (and it sure does happen) fails.

It's no way ideal but some worlds have it worse than others - sadly a reflection of the willingness of the players on that world / data centre to engage in activities (RMT) that they ought not to.

Apparently it's litterally against thier job if a GM so much as shows up on the same map as a bot. They've told me that can get fired for it. They can't file reports to the special team on player behalf, the most they can do is give you the link.

And then you have to type in the names that are intentionally hard to copy or read from an image. Or you know there's bots because monsters are dying but there's no visable player.

Key word, apparently. It sounds more like the GM gave an excuse so they don't have to deal with it. Oh well, we don't pay for the botter's sub so I guess it makes sense. :^)

I don't know how XIV works, but I know in some other games the bots could detect the GMs even when they're "stealthed" and would stop moving or even forcibly DC themselves when they approached.

Sad thing is it actually worked as a deterrent because they couldn't punish someone if they couldn't observe them for evidence.
