    Sam changes

    Hello,

I'm by no means a good player. I enjoy my share of extremes, savage and ultimates, when I have the time, as well as other more casual oriented content with friends.

I really enjoyed the game play in 6.0 Sam. Pooling Kenki for raidbuffs on both even and odd minutes.

With the recent changes, changing Shinten potency to 250, costing 25 kenki, now changes the opener slightly, so we should now use a Gyoten in the opener, as it has 100 potency and only costs 10 Kenki, this feels like an oversight, from the developers, and I believe a 10 Potency buff to Shinten will be a good solution for sam for this.

I don't understand the reasoning for the removal of Kaiten. I can understand that having it as a required button before every iaijutsu is bad game design, but then I dont understand why a different approach wasn't used. for example a charge system like Life Surge for dragoon.

In optimized content you will rarely use life Surge on anything else than Heavens' Thrust. Why can't we have kaiten as a similar thing? Since the change to kaiten and the iaijutsus are primarily so there is less variance in our performance, given our performance is unchanged.

I just feel a satisfying button press, kaiten, is gone and I cant do that any longer, and it takes a lot away from the joy I had pressing iaijutsus.

A charge system could work for Kaiten, but it goes against the apparent design philosophy they went for in 6.1. They seem to be attempting to reduce the damage SAM does in the 2 minute burst window, hence the nerfs to Midare and Ogi potency and buffs to the basic combo. Kaiten charges would be pooled for and used almost exclusively in the burst window, and only used outside the window to avoid capping. This would actually leave SAM damage more heavily weighed toward burst than the old 6.0 system where Kaiten was used to buff every Midare even outside of burst.

Also, just like now there wouldn't be a point to a kenki gauge. Now you'd have to watch two resources, Kaiten charges and kenki, when the point of a gauge is supposed to be to have a shared resource to monitor.

I'm not opposed to the suggestion, but I think it'd be better if they just restored the job to the way it was. It worked perfectly fine. No need to encourage them to muck around with the job mechanics without good reason. But they seem to want to do that anyway, so /shrug.

I understand your sentiment, and your arguements, at the end of the day I just want to be rewarded for buffing a big hitter. A restoration of the job to pre- 6.1 is a completely reasonable solution as well.
