What's up with the cone aoes hate?

I absolutely hate the overpower change, and if I wasn't playing BLM in PvP nonstop I'd be way more vocal about this.
The cone worked a lot better as it required a target. Hitting nothing is terrible, and honestly I think all the tanks should start with a cone with required target.
Even after the initial pull (which usually isn't via your AOE anyway) just spamming two circle aoes is rather dull. SE is known for making interesting jobs more and more dull and samey over time. You gotta express distaste for that.

I would argue for ease of getting mobs that every tank at least have the option for a cone for an aoe or a circle. The amount of times you have 7 HUGE mobs in a pack and they all push each other backwards and your aoe misses them is painful. I use to be able to overpower, but that isn't an option causing for further annoyances in something like the Twinning. If you are not going to fix the mobs from having hit collision on each other and bumping things far into the distance I am not going to make my rotation something dumb involving random tomahawks because one person wanted to play warrior so they needed to change the job just for them. So change all of the jobs for the option for cone or circle for easier access to hitting dumb mobs. This new overpowered is just as horrible as I thought it would be. Thanks. Can we get the option now to have a cone on every tank to pick up mobs? I could give a plethora of my personal disabilities if it makes Square feel better to justify the change.

I haven't played SAM much since early ShB so I won't try to speak to current SAM, but I actually enjoyed the conal AOE. AOEing usually isn't the most fun thing in the world but it actually added a little extra to think about when dealing with packs. It did feel weird having a mix of both circular and conal though.

The fact that Resolution on RDM is a defined line AOE actually one of the things I really enjoy about the job. Again, it takes a fairly mindless element of gameplay (AOEing packs) and makes it into something you need to think about a little bit so that you're positioned and targeted to get the most out of your combos. Not doing it right isn't really going to change the world, but doing it right just feels extra good.

Conal overpower was refreshing and different, and really made leveling up my warrior through dungeons a novel experience. I enjoyed learning how to position myself differently compared to how I play GNB.

With this change, my motivation to level WAR is pretty low.

When I played warrior I used to pull with the 2nd part of the AOE combo exclusively because it was faster and easier to do than going for the cone.

Cones would be better if they didn't require targeting and attacked whatever was in front of your character if nothing was targeted, mostly because in some maps if you see two rows of enemies, the targeting system sometimes would take the enemies farthest away first and sometimes even loop between them a few times before it would consider that the enemies that are killing my party right next to me are a bigger priority, which more often than not requires me messing with camera angles and looking at the floor to target properly.

As a DPS, cones don't bother me nearly as much, but they are inconvenient when you want to keep your gcd rolling and the targeting system decides the enemies the furthest at the corner take priority, making you either miss one or two enemies or stop your gcd to target properly. This happens way less often than when I pull as a tank, but when it does happen it's very annoying.

I'm sorry but going cone>circle on warrior felt awful. They had to make mythril tempest a cone if they were gonna keep overpower. Fuko gives samurai have consistent aoe positioning. Kaiten shoulda stayed 100%. Tenka goken was an aoe nuke you built up too and didnt make me feel I was constantly stutter stepping. know people bring up reapers alternating line aoes for guillotine and spinning scythe but you don't spam guillotine like you did with fuga and overpower. I know you liked it but many us feel the back and forward from cone to circle feels bad when it's too frequent. The aoe should only change shape to if the move is significant. Ie tenka goken cost 2 Sen and guillotine cost 50 soul gauge without gluttony. TLDR cones are fine, circles are fine, switching between the two is only fine when it's meaningful and not constant.

That's a nice utopia you got there where others actually do that more than half the time.

To be honest, I don't like the circle AoE for WAR and I can provide some reasons why in my opinion;

1) It's been what 9 years now? It's just like how they changed most of the melee and got rid of a good chunk of positions. Alienating the veterans just to appeal to the folks who didn't like a certain thing about the class or to make the class more appealing.
2) The cone AoE is fine in my opinion the only thing you had to do was work around and find out what position to be in. One thing I know is it's going to hurt WAR when it comes to skills like Bloodwhetting and Raw Intuition because that HP cure potency is based of per weapon skill inflicted on the enemy. I would say cone is easier to get your HP topped off compared to the circle because the circle means I have to now be in the thick of things. This means I will not be able to see what enemies AoE's I'm even in vs if I'm doing cone I can just side-step and reposition anytime I want.
3) The radius of the circle AoE is pathetic....in regards to the other tanks circle rotation, it's so underwhelming really. What they should have just done is maybe make an "overpowered 2" like an optional skill compared to just outright changing it because players or people who didn't like the cone complained about it. They did the same thing to monk and it's why now Monk lost veterans because they felt it was arbitrarily best to remove postionals and appeal to new players rather than considering the folks who have played the classes (with postionals) for over 6+ years.

Personally i don't know why SE thought this was a good change to make when in fact it just kinda alienated some folks who already established muscle memory.
