    Comming back player and 2.0

    Hi all,
Im a returning player, even tho I never stop paying my subscription now I decided to give it a new try after reading all the good and bad comments on the forum.
Played FFXI for 7+ yrs and thats my way to say thank you. If anyone will like to recruit me for their linkshell I will be more then happy to get in.
    About 2.0,
I found most of the info I was looking for but there is one big question that I couldn't find, which is, How will 2.0 relate with the current version. How will they implemented?
will the character level be reset? are we gonna have the same job/class system with any job been able to use the other job's skill? But the most important one will be, will everything get reset gear, gil, lvls and such.... and it may be obvious for some but for me I dnt understand how will a character with all lvls at 50 or most of them will enjoy the new game...

Im sorry if the questions are stupid or easy to find the answers for, but I couldnt.

Thanks for reading and thanks in advance for the help.

There is no character reset. You keep your gil, items and levels. The only thing that may reset are any quests you are currently on, since many of them are being adjusted for 2.0.

The class and job system is remaining as is. There may be adjustments to jobs, but the actual system is not changing.

You have to keep in mind that 2.0 is NOT an actual, new game. It's a glorified patch that's acting as a cornerstone for XIV's re-release. Besides adjusted storylines, new graphics engines, new server structures, dungeon redesigns and a few other additions such as new races and a character redesign, there isn't anything changing as far as normal gameplay from what we have right now.

His comment isn't wrong though. They are redesigning the world. But fundamental gameplay isn't going to change very much, if at all. Which is the main point he was trying to make. They will be adding a bit of flare (such as targeting body parts and inter-character combos [reintroducing Battle Regime]) but the basic mechanics are going to be pretty much what we have now.

Also, you have to understand that Lv. 50 is the current endgame level. It's more than likely (I'd say it's pretty damn certain) that we're getting a level cap raise, possibly before 2.0 (there's a dev quote on this, but I really hate fishing for those).

    Welcome back to Eorzea.

WoW did the same thing, yet people don't consider that a new game. 2.0 is more like an expansion pack, rather than a patch. Too big for that, but too small to be a new game. For those playing, at least.

it like a new game because we are getting a new client for the game but at the end it's just a big update moving us from old to new client.

New game for someone who quit at launch? Sure.

New game for us? Not at all, they're just making it an overall better experience.

You will only keep your Name, items and stats/levels and achivments. Your race/sex will reset and everyone will have to play the game at the opening. You will still have all your stuff tho and gives older players to change there race to male mithra or female galka. Also they added some extra stuff like boob size and extra hair styles and scares.
