Friend banned from forums and held under review

A friend of mine has been banned indefinitely under suspicion of violating forum rules. It was said they'd receive an email, but no email was sent (yes, the junk and such has been checked thoroughly). They are polite and don't attack others. They are a frequent poster for SAM related threads and job balance, both in JP and EN. Don't know why and support isn't even open right now. Can only guess it was malicious targeted reports or something else.

A very common reason to end up banned is, in a heated discussion like many of those about job changes, slipping into personal attacks on other posters. Though it could also be the creation of too many topics about the same thing (i.e.,, "spam") or a number of other things.

Regardless, however, we here on the forums can't help you, and forum moderators aren't going to. Your friend is going to have to wait until SE support is back in the office and can get to you - there's no quick resolution. If it's genuinely a mistake, well, I hope it gets resolved as quick as possible, but that won't be quick. If they got a bit too heated and starting slinging attacks or language not acceptable here then... well, it probably won't be a permanent ban unless they have a history - so take it as a lesson to be cool.

Yea.... your friend isn't telling the truth. This sort of thing ALWAYS ends up being that the person being banned did something to deserve it, they just don't wanna admit it.

I mean, every forum is different and every company decides what's appropriate and what isn't differently. But generalizing that the person "ALWAYS ends up being that the person being banned did something to deserve it" isn't necessarily true.

I got a ban on the WoW forums once for a spelling mistake. The thread in question was all about the different races in WoW and my autocorrect didn't like the plural "Forsakens" (As in, the forsakens of Tirisfal) and it corrected it to "4 skins" (spelled properly. I'm not spelling it out in case it happens again.)

A forum moderator decided I was being rude and crass. I got a 30 day ban despite it clearly being a mistake despite the context of the thread. And once the ban is in place other moderators/GM's don't like going behind the back of the first and undoing their decision.

It's not always a case if someone being a jerk.

Although, I do wonder why this was posted in the dps discussion forums. Maybe that's what the ban is for. Constantly posting off topic posts in random threads that have nothing to do with the topic.
