Also from Portugal with this problem, although different ISP (NOWO), just adding to the number of people affected to try and make sure this gets the attention it should be getting.

Dear support people, no, opening ports and changing the configuration on my game client is not going to make the ROUTING issues go away.
Please talk to your carrier TATA Communications or your service provider to modify the routing, it is NOT NORMAL to leave Spain/Portugal directly to London and then to New York to route us back through London and go to Germany where your server is located. No this is not a problem with our ISP because the first jump we do in the network of your service provider IS CORRECT, so our service providers CAN NOT do anything about it.
Talked so Square Support, they say they cant do anything. pathetic.

Call them that is not right, game isn't working for you doesn't mean 100% everyone is not working. Got to be your end ISP issues that most ISP will always deny problems as long it can connect. They don't give a dam about latency to be honest unless your line is completely cut out.
My ping is 50ms over Fiber optic line - I'm in NA. So I can tell you there are no latency issues with the server. If the server is the cause of latency - I would be complaining too.
Try to have some perspective from other side of the world.
I'm not an expert in this so correct me if I'm wrong but you're saying you're from NA and you're fine but why would you even have latency if you're from NA? People in this thread are all from Portugal (I think). Also looking at the thread it's happening in different ISPs too, I've played for over 5 years and this never happened before, I doubt multiple ISPs would just suddenly have worse connection in only a specific game. But yes it's good to have some perspective from the other side of the world. It may not be happening to everyone but I have a couple of friends who live in different locations in Portugal with distinct ISPs and we all have the same problem.Call them that is not right, game isn't working for you doesn't mean 100% everyone is not working. The issue is happening for many people in Portugal with connection to EUROPEAN servers NOT NA , where the Routing is going completely randomly to UK- New York instead of the normal route, I´ve seen many fellow players complaining in my ISP with the same issue, I contacted Square with tracert from various people and the issues they posted in those forums and all the replies from the support where the textbook basic responses for every issue, they couldn't even acknowledged the strange situation about the routing.

Right but Square Enic is not the ISP boss (another word internet regulator)... They have no power to control the connnection line outside of the server building - I am not sure what you really want to do from SE, I'm not defending SE - this is just technical logic aspect how things are operating.I'm not an expert in this so correct me if I'm wrong but you're saying you're from NA and you're fine but why would you even have latency if you're from NA? It appears if everyone in Portugal to EU server are having issue, then the datacenter of the ISP (do not mix up with DataCenter of FFXIV game given that it has the same wording). ISP Datacenter is basically the network node hop between service line. That node is probably overwhelmed with connections. Much like the cities main highway is under heavy traffic.

Alright i can understand that, but how come it's only happening on FFXIV, every other game or internet service is fine.Right but Square Enic is not the ISP boss (another word internet regulator)... And nonetheless they could still try to not sound like we're talking to machines with copy paste default answers and try to explain to us the problem, like you just did, but I guess that's another problem that isn't really relevant.
Guess we'll just have to wait and see if it's magically solved or not...

Because every server IP has a set path. Much like if you set your GPS to store A vs store B. You may get on the same highway before you split off to A or B (like tree branches). The A route is always congested and B is fine. Routing problem with ISP DC.
