    Pity system for housing

Because there are so few mediums and larges, could we please implement a pity system for folks that have been trying for a long time to get one? Obviously the ideal would be many more wards, but currently on Balmung there are numerous people entered for every personal medium/large in the new housing district. And with pure RNG, there will likely still be folks trying repeatedly for years with no luck.

It could be similar to notoriety for Bozja's duels. If you enter and lose the lottery, gain a point. If you win and refuse the plot, lose all points. That would prioritize people who have tried repeatedly and have been waiting longer.

    What are your thoughts?

My thoughts are this will never happen. Take away any of the logistics, you simply would have too many people that would be entering pity city for this.

Next week is going to be interesting. All the people that lose this week - and it's going to be a lot of people - are going to go for whatever few plots are left (from relocations coming from wards 19~24, or if someone simply doesn't claim or build on a plot because occasionally that happens...). So not making it in the first week is going to really hurt...

But we're also partly in this situation because SE loves to monkey's paw housing feedback. "Oh a lottery so you don't have to spam click a placard all day? Great idea! This way we can reduce housing too, since the lottery makes it equally 'fair' to everyone."

So, I sympathize with the idea, but rather than devising ever more elaborate allocation systems that subject us to the housing team's questionable whims, I think we should just go right back to the root of the problem: There needs to be more supply. A lot more. If SE needs to redesign some things under the hood to properly scale it up, SE should do this even if it is a major dev effort. We've had 8 years of housing and SE has never provided a satisfactory amount of housing. A bit ridiculous for a digital product, moreso when its competitors and even the same company's previous MMO don't have this problem.

If we keep asking for concessions like the lottery system, now a pity system etc, SE will just turn it around on us as they've done time and again and it's still just going to make the majority of people unhappy.

And then also this, yeah. For this system to work in a pragmatic sense, supply needs to be at least fairly close to meeting the need. Otherwise "everyone" will have tons of points and it really just heavily biases against newer players reaching the point where they might start looking into housing.

    Minus 50 DKP!

We're more likely to get new plots before this happens.
