Played SAM for the first time in 6.1 earlier today while doing Aglaia. The lack of Kaiten was extremely noticeable and has gutted the entire feel of the job. Instead of planning when to use Kaiten, kenki now revolves on weaving in Shintens when you have any built gauge, with the odd time when you'd add in the periodic Senei. It feels very brainless and not rewarding.
Bring back Kaiten.
Bump for Kaiten!
Yeah, or rather instead of keeping enough Kenki for the next Kaiten you now sit on 20 Kenki with nothing to do with it, and with Senei.. how Kenki is dealt with now as 2minute cool down it doesn't make anysense that it consumes Kenki.Played SAM for the first time in 6.1 earlier today while doing Aglaia. Iaijutsu along with the Samurai itself feel in 6.1 reduced to lvl50, while Kaiten+Iaijutsu was a Combo that made Kenki and the later additions (Shinten,Kyuten,Senei and Guren) made sense and Kaiten build it all up kinda like a Trinity: The Player learns to use Kaiten to enhance Iaijutsu through Kenki
The fantasy of Samurai requiring to charge/prep large hitting attacks. Breathing in energy, fully focused and exhaling for the moment of impact. Remember the Samurai of the Stormblood Trailer? Often I read SAM as the " Melee version of BLM ", a Melee Caster.
This was taken from us, to fix a problem that didn't exist. What did they fix by doing this? Nothing. Or Nothing that matters from my PoV. Foreseeable changes in the Future, isn't now. How about not have changed how SAM was, until the changes were ready? What next asinine excuse am I supposed to accept?
Could also do the easy thing...Now 6.1 SAM feels horrible... I wonder how to fix it? Sounds like a Revert to Post6.1, at 6.08 where we were completely content.
- No one complained about SAM pre6.1
- No one was unhappy with SAM pre6.1
- In fact I can't point out flaws of SAM pre6.1
- SAM was better pre6.1 vs post6.1
Then again a billion dollar indie company can't make that happen ( while making plenty of other changes every other patch ). Great asinine excuse, how about at least addressing it?Great, now... when are they going to stop dodging the bullet and address the Feedback on our JOBS!?
- Gotta address ultimate
- Gotta address housing
- Gotta address ToS, again
- Gotta address Adventure Plate lewds
- Gotta address x y z
- Gotta address being sorry, yet again
" Give it a try " they said - " We gave it a try " we said
" Give us feedback " they said - " We gave our feedback " we said.
Give back our Kaiten
I still firmly believe that, given the structure of the encounter in the newest ultimate, square felt that 2 overly bursty jobs, NIN and SAM doubled up and 1 potentially with a dancer would have maybe trivialized some of the mechanics they put into the encounter.
Is that a reason to gut the job? I don’t think so and I do not agree with it. It’s a shame but then makes me think how often changes are made to jobs not necessarily because there’s a glaring issue but because their encounter design isn’t compatible with it.
I feel this is quite likely just because of how half-baked these changes are, there is no compensation for anything really on every level 6.1 was a subtraction - yes we do the same dps but have less buttons and hit for less and also cannot reach the unicorn highs we could get.

And if that truly is the case, then the problem lies in their encounter design. For them to look at a job and say "it's too good for this" really paints a bad picture of how they do design. But, I suppose that isn't new for them considering what I heard about the healer tester, so... i don't know.I still firmly believe that, given the structure of the encounter in the newest ultimate, square felt that 2 overly bursty jobs, NIN and SAM doubled up and 1 potentially with a dancer would have maybe trivialized some of the mechanics they put into the encounter.

They really should've tried thinking about other avenues they could've done.
Has anyone sent any in-game feedback? Or do you think that would be a waste of time? I remember doing such back when they changed Gunbreaker sfx and it obviously didn't make a difference.
That type of feedback likely would just die on the vine so to speak. It'll probably get as far as the english speaking employee that sees your ticket.
I would like to think it would add to the overall numbers of complaints they are seeing, but I feel its unlikely.
That's just my assumption though. I certainly don't know that for sure and there is no harm in trying. I think SE made a statement about not having the translators to even really read these forums (pretty disappointing). Once again, honestly don't know if true, as I heard through other posters... But at least with the forums, I think they can at least recognize the volume of SAM threads, which is a statement in itself.
No translators? Dang, I guess that's too much for an indie company like square Enix. That type of feedback likely would just die on the vine so to speak. It'll probably get as far as the english speaking employee that sees your ticket.
