too punishing!? I hope that is not the case, I play it like that: I play the Job, get a Feel of How the Job plays, then I look what I have to be aware of the most in the kit and then I master it at my pace
I also take suggestions, for example: once in ARR or HW I played WAR in Castrum (when Cutscenes were skippable!) and I had tank stance active as an Off-Tank for the extra skills that were only available when Tank Stance (or DPS Stance) were active.
I used "..But these Extra Skills!", and someone in the Party said to me "Dude, I'm a Warrior Main, turn off Tank Stance", where I replied with "Okay!", so I turned off Tank Stance and learned something about offtanking!
What I wanna say is, that it's fine to take time to learn the ropes for your own, it's the part of the journey to hone the skills for future encounters, the Removal of Kaiten threw everything out of whack, reduced the Kenki Gauge to "Press Shinten NOW!" which toppled the entire Resource into Question, how it is now.. and again, I think there was nothing wrong of how Kenki evolved alongside Kaiten.
