Have battle regimens been scrapped? I was under the impression that they were just put on hold for a bit.
Properly executed, this could go a long way toward making a lot of this "BLM only" content more melee-friendly.

Battle Regimens have been removed for now.
I'm hoping that they do introduce a melee/mage co-operative skillchain and magic burst mechanic so parties will have a reason to balance members with DoW and DoM to maximize damage.
Actually, they have announced that a revised version of Battle Regimens will exist once again. However, despite being an assertive phrase, we have not heard on it on a /airquotes "long" time
I found the suspension message. Seems like we should be hearing something soon, if it is still in the works.

The system was designed around a decent idea, but the problem I think was more entering Battle Regiment mode while having everyone know what to do in what order. Your members may wait, but the mob really won't. It's the kind of thing that kind of requires vent or people knowing the attack order ahead of time. I guess having an attack daze the mob to start the battle regiment would have worked, too.
* The sad thing is that FFXIV turned RDM into a turret, and people think that's what it's supposed to be. It's supposed to combine sword and magic into something more, not spend the bulk of gameplay spamming spells and jump into melee for only 3 GCDs before scurrying back to the back line like good little casters.
* Design ideas:
Red Mage - COMPLETE (https://tinyurl.com/y6tsbnjh), Chemist - Second Pass (https://tinyurl.com/ssuog88), Thief - First Pass (https://tinyurl.com/vdjpkoa), Rune Fencer - First Pass (https://tinyurl.com/y3fomdp2)
We used to spam battle regimens, it's not too bad once you get a group used to it. We'd have one person as the "opener", usually a MRD since he could keep autoattacking while it is open, then all the melee would throw in theirs (no particular order), then the mages would throw in theirs and close the regimen.
It seems complicated, but it was well worth doing and only takes a few seconds if you are on the ball.
I'm actually thinking that the new combo system would make that old battle regimen system a bit difficult though. I really hope they find a decent system to make this work. (even if it is not battle regimen)
Having players do cooperative combos might be cool, though.
It actually worked?
Back when they still played, my friends and I tried to perform Battle Regimens numerous times before we finally gave up. We'd all had little or no trouble pulling off Skillchains and Magic Bursts in FFXI, but I don't think we succeeded in executing a single Battle Regimen. Eventually we just concluded that the system must be bugged and ignored it.
I taught my whole LS (before it died) how to Battle Regimen. Would like to see it return.
BR was lame, it worked, but barley.They took no skill at all, you just Q'd your skill in at the right spot. There were only a couple effects you could get from it and it locked your character while in Q. Now with combo's if you were to enter a skill on combo it may time out before its initiated. Id rather see something along the liens of ff11s system or something brand new.
Just bring back the skill chains and make it continuous not based on 2 or 3 WSs and a spell.
