SAM has close to 36 buttons, 1 is removed, everyone: omg in a year we'll have one button to press, sky is falling!

I'm fine with one ability being taken away as long as it doesn't change the gameplay/balance in a big way, plus the gameplay doesn't seem as good.
It's a bad change disappointed in devs

It's not about the fact that one button was removed. It more has to do with which one that got removed.
The other changes weren't good for same either like always crit and reduced potency on the 'finishers'.
There where other ways to adres this and other buttons to remove and/or combine, etc.
Letter from the Producer LIVE Part IX Q&A Summary (10/30/2013)
Q: Will there be any maintenance fees or other costs for housing, besides the cost of the land and house?
A: In older MMOs, such as Ultima Online, there was a house maintenance fee you had to pay weekly, but in FFXIV: ARR we decided against this system. Similarly, these older MMOs also had a system where your house would break down if you didn’t log in after a while in order to have you continue your subscription, but this is a thing of the past and we won't have any system like that.

SAM has 36 buttons because instead of simply making Shoha upgrade into Shoha 2 and Ikishoten turning into Oni Namikiri, they made them into their own actions and instead of rectifying that, they decided to remove a skill that actually required proper thought and resource management to utilize.
It was an asinine decision that did nothing but make the Kenki Gauge into little more than the Shinten guage and addressed "button bloat" in the worst way imaginable.

Them removing it takes that to 0 yes, but it was almost nonexistent before...
It needs a rework, but kaiten going is not the main problem. The job was basically broken in 6.0 and needs a good fixing. 5.x sam was the best version, and I found 4.x sam more enjoyable and better flowing than 6.0(8).

Broken is subjective and given the MASSIVE backlash from basically everyone across all 3 communities, I don't think it was.Kaiten requires no thought and minimal resource management.
