XBox Series S Controller still does not work with Mac Big Sur

The 6.1 patch notes indicated that support for Xbox Series S controllers had been added for Macs on several operating systems. At least in my case, after downloading the patch, the Series S wireless controller still does not work properly.

The controller is correctly paired with my computer and the select button (A) can be used to start loading into the game, but the controller cannot be calibrated and is completely unusable. When I attempt to calibrate the paired Series S controller, the calibrator does not respond to any stick movements. Everything but the A button is unresponsive.

    Operating system & computer information:
    Big Sur Version 11.6.1
    iMac (Retina 5K, 27-inch, 2020)
    Processor 3.4 GHz 8-core Intel Core i7
    Memory 32 GB 2667 MHz DDR4
Graphics AMD Radeon Pro 5500 XT 8 GB

Please provide the following information below:

What Controllers have you tried so far?
Are you launching the game through Bootcamp or 3rd party software?
Steps taken before this issue occurs:

Does this only happen with Final Fantasy XIV?
Are the Controllers 1st party (Microsoft/Sony/Nintendo) or 3rd party (Off-Brand)?
Have you tried to calibrate it differently than the normal way?
