Yup, title says it all.
I created this account after the announcement about the Kaiten removal. Said I was against it, we were told to wait and try it out, which I did. And then to provide feedback, which I will.
Well first of all, I think it's just terrible. Now before anyone says I haven't tried it enough. I ran savage with it, the new extreme, the alliance raid, a few dungeons, hit on a dummy for 30 minutes. I DID try it.
For those saying I'll get used to it. Yes, we'll get "used" to it. But that doesn't mean it's a good change, I want Kaiten back, even if I COULD get used to it, why?
For reference, i'm playing on controller, i've been a SAM main since 2018, and I always played with the fastSAM set, right now my GCD is at 2.00. So I would be one of those the "most impacted" by the action bloat the removal of kaiten is supposed to fix.
It almost didn't change anything in that regard, I just spam shinten instead of kaiten, just so happens that for 5 kaitens, I will do 4 shintens. So I gain ONE oGCD.
This is nothing. And even if it WAS a huge difference. The tradeoff just isn't worth it, in my opinion.
Was the decision making between shinten/kaiten hard? No. But it was SOMETHING.
Now it's just "spam shinten". It has been simplified to the point kenki barely even matters.
But that is to me, not even the saddest part about kaiten removal, I said it in my first post and i'm gonna say it again. Kaiten was just as much a part of SAM's identity than Iaijutsu is. The twirl animation looked awesome, the button press to prepare for the big hit was satisfying. SAM has always been a fun and rewarding job to play, in my opinion, and it was in part thanks to that. And removing that is both a blow to it's identity and to the satisfaction I (and i'm sure others people's) experienced with the job.
I am also a bit sad about losing the "big numbers" on a kaiten-buffed Namikiri/Midare crit. When all added up together, you built your buffs, you Kaiten to prepare and boom : huge number + lucky crit/dhit = dopamine. But I can live with the small numbers, that's not what bothers me the most, even if I AM a bit disappointed in it.
To me the most unnecessary and unwelcome change is the removal of kaiten. It's a blow to a job's identity that was fine since release and never needed to be changed.
Stop simplifying it, leave it's core skills alone. It never needed that change. Nobody asked for this.
Alright, that's all for my rant. I know all of it is subjective, but i'm adding my voice to those who thinks alike. Who knows, maybe we'll be the majority and will be heard.
