Why doesnt Zodiark have an Entry in the Codex when Hydaelyn does?

I suggest you do your msq before commenting on matters that people are talking about in regards to it.

I’m just commenting on your thoughts of Zodiark being an actual character on the same level as Hydaelyn.

Zodiark is only treated as a fully-formed character by the Ascians early on in the game when he was still just a formless “dark god” that was just used as a vague reason why the Ascians were doing bad things that weren’t explained yet. When the veil was lifted (and his story was actually fleshed out), he was used as a plot device for the Ascians to revive and we learned that his heart is actually another Ascian we were already familiar with since ARR. This was taken even further when he’s body-jacked by another Ascian, who doesn’t suddenly become “Zodiark the character”, just “Fancy Dan in a big spooky body”.

Considering Elidibus separated from Zodiark shortly after summoning, a fully-formed Zodiark with agency probably had a shorter shelf-life than Moenbryda and more importantly, was someone we’ve never met. Hydaelyn meanwhile has been around 12000 years and has meaningful interactions with our character.

Personally I’m done with both of them and just want to move onto other things.

They don't mention Thancred either, even though he appears in the MSQ. From what I can gather, The Unending Codex might serve as an entry point for new players. So rather than filling them with an absurd amount of lore to understand everything before 6.0, they just introduce concepts as they are needed, like characters and concepts.

It's pretty much on a need to know basis, if it's needed to expand on what they are talking about, or to understand the history of the character it will be put in the unending codex to give fresh players who start at 6.1 the chance to catch up.

Have you read some of the entries? It has one on concepts like aether and the First Brood. This isn't intended purely as some "entry point" for new players, and Hydaelyn's entry goes beyond what you'd convey to a "new player" who is unfamiliar with the lore, even expanding on the Convocation and her role within it. Elidibus, who is explicitly mentioned in the MSQ along with the Ascians, is such a key character that his omission alongside Zodiark's should rightfully raise eyebrows. Sure, they can pick and choose, but this isn't really a particularly great argument in response to the OP. Given that her own entry extensively references Zodiark, I'd say an entry for him or Elidibus would be warranted, beyond her own entry which reads like some mesmerised fanboi's hagiography of her.

I would like to think they will just be updating the entries over time, as and when throughout the story, or expand it across side-quests, etc. So it's more just a case of he has yet to be added.

Right but the entry describes both Venat and Hydaelyn. Venat is someone we’ve only known for a very short time as well. Either way though, both entities like them or hate them are both major major players in the story. The world wouldn’t exist were it not for Zodiark. Just that alone is a pivotal piece of lore. Not to mention the whole bit about him rewriting the laws of creation and all that potentially being undone? That’s extremely important. Elidibus himself has been a major player since ARR as well, so whether you split them or not, one of them should be in the codex. Hell, if we combine venat and hydaelyn and elidibus and zodiark, the latter has had more screentime and development, so that argument kind of goes out the window.Also….Zodiark has been around 12k+ years too. HE WAS LITERALLY CREATED BEFORE HER LOL

I assume he'll probably be added to the codex once we figure out what this "other purpose" for the moons of the Source/reflections is because I seriously doubt his residual aether ominously bleeding out of the crater isn't going to end up playing into something sooner or later.

With the way they completely wrote off the garlemald plot threads…i’m not so sure.
