For starters I have already made my position on the ninja changes known on the other changes. I did not like the ninja changes when it was posted on Apr 1, and I am still not a fan.
For starters I'm glad the changes doesn't impact our rotation that much at all if any. This remains to be seen until the number crunchers at balance figures out what ninjas should be doing optimally.
However, I do have many gripes about how the current chances are handled. Firstly is that Mug is technically worse than any other 5% buff in the game. It is single target, and while it doesn't affect any content that's not ultimate, with the release of the impending DSW release it's going to put ninjas in a very awkward position. DSW is almost certainly a encounter where you fight multiple bosses at the same time, and having mug only affect single target with the current effect will put ninjas behind other rdps jobs. This was not an issue before where trick attack was one minuet the benifits of having a 1 min raidbuff offset the issue of it being one target. Although DSW hasn't been released and if they're homogenizing everything to be 2 mins it's likely that boss changes in DSW will change every 2 mins with soft enrages. It remains to be seen if this is a real issue or not.
Second Issue i see is that trick attack isn't a self buff it's a debuff on the target only for you, meaning that your aoe aren't affected by trick attack. only the target with the debuff is affected. This makes the doton nerf really awkward because I can see why they needed to nerf that with the trick changes if trick was a self buff but given it's a debuff it's a real hit to ninjas cleave damage.
Lastly mug really feels wrong to have a raidwide ability on. This is a personal take but having to use suiton as an activation cost for the raidwide felt good. There was build up to activate your utility, and now it's been designed that it's shoehorned into a random ninja ogcd just because they wanted ninja to be 2 mins. If they wanted ninja to be a true 2 min job they should have redesigned it to be a 2 min job and not have this 2 min buff tacked on with a bandaid.
Personally, I felt the ninja changes removed more than it added. Making mug a mandatory button you have to press on cooldown removed our option for that last bit of optimization for our triple bhava window. We were able to choose where to use it. Now it's another button to keep rolling off cooldown. We lost our raid utility of buffing per min allowing other jobs some variety in the odd min windows. We lost doton on pull, which is good or bad depending on your position. It just feels bad that Square is taking more than it's replacing.
Also mug having the same debuff icon as trick is some serious insult...
