That's more a fault of your own though.
Seamless just means taking you from place to place, or event to event, without it seeming contrived. In FFXIV, you are constantly checking your journal and going to levequest counters to activate or double-check quests. You are constantly having to stop and think about party balance or go through several menus to do anything. Even behest has you jumping through occasional hoops.
Meh...

they did tell you..... you just chose to ingore it
the armory system was never about set classes. but more templates.
the only set is under the disipline
hand war land magic
we are given the chance to mix and match or stick to one of those. Pretty much create our own classes insted of a job and sub job what wasn't very customisable.
Kinda like elder scroll games, well at least in morrowind.
I tried Aion from NCsoft. The game was fun, just the community was well
think of the forum, but make it 10 times worst. I got yell at for the most retarted things. Like looking for a legion under lvl 25. I was new to the game and really had no effin Idea on what to do. And no one was helpful.
So what's their philosophy? Play your own roles in a world you can't even change? Freedom to BE what you want, but no freedom to DO what you want?gift

The whole role-play element is totally undermined by the other 90% of the game that imposes specific roles upon you.
That's my point, the game is rife with design contradictions.

Except I feel lame as any of the classes and none of the skills are very interesting. Here's to hoping they finally announce their plans for new job / battle systems.gift

"Us heroes, we have so much to do."

some players: be FFXI-2
some ***: be WoW clone
SE: be anything but another failure
me: be Final Fantasy, be enjoyable game

Fun = let's have fun with this, Live = depends on definition of live, Reboot = get rid of pre-loaded attitudes, Rebuild = should be obvious. Having been in multiple business meetings buzz words are usually just catchy titles for slideshow pages. I'm sure it would make more sense if we could see the whole slide.
I have said before that elements of the game when I first started disoriented me a bit. Of course the retainer build wasn't complete at the start of the game and if they had not completed that I would not continue to play. But "motley crew of contradictory features?" Haven't found that to be the case. Were you still playing when the servers went down?
I see very strong views on where SE wants to take this game. And they certainly did "REBOOT" their thinking on this MMO as compared to FFXI. I am the type of player that FFXIV is made for - not necessarily a "casual" player, but I cannot play more than 3-4 times a week. FFXIV's vision is a game where everyone who plays can be successful. Also I have played alongside others without partying, have partied and not linked leves (only because I didn't know u could until a couple of months ago), and if they had to create a scenario that was separate for each and every player - you couldn't party it anyway.
I have not played any of the games you use as examples but have been playing FF since the beginning, DiabloII, StarCraft, and WOW are the other MMOs I've played. Always come home to FF.![]()

the buzzwords probably sounded a lot better to them when they weren't translated so we could read them. A lot of meaning vanishes when equivelent words and thrown in without the same context.
I don't know either, but catchy slogans worked for Obama. Bomb Libya without asking congress? Yes he can!"fun, live, reboot, and rebuild"
What does that even mean? When designing a game, you don't need pointless buzzwords to make it good, instead you need a strong design philosophy that progresses the genre, and you need to be confident in its implementation.
Justing aside, I'd like an answer to that as well. Where is SE trying to take this game? If they can't answer that, how do they expect to keep people interested? How are they supposed to make people watch for it "to be fixed" if they don't know what the fix really is? Is all they are doing is minor repair work to what was originally done or what?
Judging from the PAX east gameplay footage (I think it was) that I saw, yeah they've got that working.Originally Posted by gifthorse
For instance, in GW 2, you don't have to be in a party to fight alongside others, and there is no obstacle to playing with other people (such as whether you can link your leves etc). The quests and events branch out organically in a series of chain reactions depending on player's actions.
I haven't played GW 2 so I have no idea whether they achieved this, but the point is: the idea is there and it forms the basis for every one of their designs.
No one expects the miquote inquisition!!!

After playing the new tactics ogre, I think they were trying to make something like that an mmo....it didn't work
