Recitation says:
" Increases the potency of Galvanize, Catalyze, Biolysis, and Biolytic effects"
I can visibly see that Galvanize is stronger (the shield on the party list is bigger). Cool.
I can visibly see that Biolysis is stronger (3000 -> 4500). Cool.
This makes sense since the description for both explicitly state a Recitation effect of a 50% increase.
But then there's Catalyze. In PVP, Catalyze has the following effect: Increases damage dealt by 10%.
Notice that the description for Catalyze itself doesn't mention anything about a Recitation effect.
But if its "potency" is increased, as the Recitation effect claims, one would assume that would mean it does more than 10%.
So I tested on a dummy (after much effort since other people's damage taken effects were affecting my numbers so I had to wait quite a bit until I got a dummy all to myself for a few minutes)
Broil = 5000
Catalyze + Broil = 5500
Recitation + Catalyze + Broil = 5500
So how exactly is Recitation increasing Catalyze potency?
I haven't been able to test Biolytic, since it affects a target's damage, but I imagine it too isn't actually increased by Recitation since the description for Biolytic mentions nothing about a Recitation effect.
Can we get some clarification on what, if anything, Recitation actually does to Catalyze and Biolytic?
Please note that the French description for Recitation is different and says:
Increases the potency of the next Adloquium and Biolysis
From which the descriptions of Adloquium and Biolysis clearly state that it only affects the Galvanize and Biolysis (DOT) effects, which matches what I see above. So it sounds like the English description is just plain wrong.
On that note, the English description also doesn't specify that it only affects the next one, though that is obvious after using it.
