it certain explains why the Scions manage to keep operating in Eorzea for so long without any serious issues beyond what happened in the MSQ events even before WoL joined them.

Well evil corportation/business threatening them wise anyways.

    Hildibrand quest

I was curious how long until they got the Pupu involved in FF14 and they finally arrived now!

This first episode of Hildibrand Season 5 was just pure chaos and I love it!

The one year break from Hildibrand really reinvigorated the developer's chaotic energy for this season of Hildibrand and with the Pupu involved it will only get more chaotic.

If Yoshi-P and the development team is going to have Season 2 include a lot of cameo characters in Season 2 storyline and have far more heavy influence from other FF games, both as minor and major parts, then when we travel to the remaining shards later they may have one shard be established to advance their society to become exactly like Earth/Modern day society but with FF14 races.

A Modern Society theme Shard will be a ideal expansion setting for having FF7 and FF15 theme contents due to how these two games have strong influence by Modern society when it comes to their setting.

We can even get things such as Deepground, Turks, Kingsglaive, Shinra Corporation, SOLDIER, and etc existing in this Shard.

Of course this also means we may have to deal with someone such as a FF14 version of Hojo in this type of expansion but it does give Yoshi-p and the development team a opportunity to introduce the Sephiroth Raid people been wanting for a long time.
Emet-Selch did say some of the civilizations in the shards would surprise us. Given what we saw so far, modern civilization might surprise us indeed.

After finally having time to process the pure Chaos that happens in Episode 1 of Hildibrand Season 5, I can only express it in one way....

Can't wait for more of that chaos in next major update

They really outdid themselves with that moment. A pure manga style reaction page in video game form. I can't wait for next time. XD

One interesting thing I picked up was that apparently the Omicrons encountered (and assumingly destroyed) an intergalactic civilization.

Im gonna be "that guy" and say that Pan-Galactic could simply mean that the language is used across the galaxy, not across multiple galaxies, meaning that it could just be a language used by one or several civilizations conquered by the Omicrons in the Galaxy.

Perhaps. Just to note that in the FFXIV galaxy where Etheirys is at least, we had a full sci-fi civilization that possibly possessed multiple worlds and spread a common language among them. It's interesting how we went from a fantasy somewhat bows and arrows to being in the same setting as interstellar empires.

I actually doubt this very much because the two Shards we have seen were both neo-medievial society wise (the First only has had some technological development due to G'raha providing Allagan and magitek devices from the Crystal Tower he brought with him from the Source), and when Elidibus summoned "other Shards' Warriors of Light", they resembled adventurers from the Source.

I'm pretty confident to say that the four remaining Shards (other than the First and Thirteenth), aren't much different (remember, each Shard is a reflection of the Source where things went slightly differently, but still ultimately follow similar paths (such as Ancient humanity splitting into the same basic races biologically as those on the Source).

The closest you're going to get to 'modern/futuristic' worlds here in FFXIV will be Garlemald which has/had cars, trains, advanced airships/air travel, electric light, mass-produced consumer items, advanced metallurgy and material synthesis, computers and skyscrapers, and the ancient Allag which was full on Tron-level cyberpunk with high-tech computerisation, mechanization and space travel. Some of that is progessively trickling down into Eorzean society, but it's never going to be more than a few curiosities the Ironworks and their contempories make.

Exactly – "across the galaxy". To form a common language across a galaxy, there needs to be interaction between multiple planets in that galaxy, and the way it's talked about suggests that it is more than just "Omicrons invaded everywhere and took their language with them".

Prior to Endwalker we only knew about the Omicrons and dragons being at war with each other, which essentially needs only the one invading civilisation to be capable of space flight (though the dragons seem to have that naturally); now we may have an entire galaxy of spacefarers.

Worth noting amid all this: Allag had technology for facilitating "communication over the massive distances between stars".
