FC Wards split is legitimately awful

FC houses are nothing like personal housing, they are basically a glorified tenant system where fc members can hang out, they have no say in any of the decoration, be it inside or outside...

I've been a guild/fc leader in many MMOs for many years. I've never had issues with people coming up and asking for decoration changes. I usually do have an officer or two who are entrusted with decorating - because they are good at it - but it's never been a problem for me to incorporate everyone's wants.

If you are finding your current FC is a little like a dictatorship, then maybe it's time to move on and find one where you are treated more like part of the family.

Ever try finding such a FC to join? They're rare. They're usually limited to close knit groups of friends who already trust one another. They generally aren't looking to add new members.

There's some justification for FCs keeping tight control over who has access to things like decorating and workshops. Unlock access to every member and you can find someone's hard work that was being enjoyed by most of the FC destroyed by a single member. Having someone working on a big project on the Fabrication Station and another player walks up in the middle of the process to cancel it, causing the first player to lose all the materials already used. Airships and Submersibles returned from a voyage get looted by a random member that keeps everything for themselves instead of putting it into the FC chest where it can be used to benefit the entire FC.

the first fc i ever joined and still am in works like that. don't join an fc run by an egomaniac and you'll be fine

probably a skill i learned from dodging cesspool family guilds in WoW though.

I think pretending that FC members coming up to you and asking you to place down a certain furniture or move a certain thing is the same as getting to decorate a house on your own house interior, exterior and all is a little bit dishonest.

I get that some people maybe don't understand the appeal of wanting to 'decorate' or furnish a house but it is a legitmate part of the game that a lot of people want to do and partake in and apartments just don't provide that. Whether you enjoy the content or see it as important or not, it is to other people and no content in an MMO should really be locked away behind a leadership only position for GMs/FC leaders, plus not to mention all it does is discourage people from bothering to join FCs and instead encourages tons of shell/lone-man FCs to circumvent access to that content.

And to my knowledge the opposite is still possible and hasn't been patched. The fc leader can decide to lock the house from everyone including fc members, which prevents them from vacating their rooms and leaving the fc.

Except they will have to have that dummy FC for at least 30 days to even be able to try. Sooo there is that.

and 30 days is that long of a wait compared to how long some people have waited already? meh yeah the 30 days may stop people who dont already have a shell FC from participating in this wave of housing but as others become available so not much of a safety net. especially since "FC" houses were the work around people have for selling houses so im sure there is no shortage of dummy FCs out there.

This ^ is the whole reason the entire limited to FC/Private concept should be scrapped. I don't know how it is on other servers, but on my server recruiting is very difficult because making and leveling FCs is too easy. Everyone and their dog has their own little 4 person FC. This creates a huge problem with maintaining an actual FC long term, not to mention makes recruiting an absolute nightmare.

Additionally, I can see this being even more of an increased issue on low population servers. This concept was poorly conceived and I can't remember a single person asking for it.

Lets not forget you can opt to sell your FC with a large plot(although the buyer just need to be in the fc for 30 days) considering its ezpz to get a large in empyreum and the moment the lottery winners were announced, i saw people listing their FC for sale immediately.

Allocating 18 wards to FC encourages people to bid for lotttery on a dummy FC and then take the winning bid/house to sell to flip for more $$$. Completely contradicts their original intention of trying to curb FC/house sale

There’s also some one person fcs that have recruited a few members just trick the system and be able to bid... now they are back at one member. The 4 members initial requirement is way too low. They should also require a certain level of FC points during a period of time.

IMO you can thank all the shell FC's out there with 1-2 ppl in them for the ward split we are seeing. Many if not most of them have been screaming that they "need" a FC house because they want to use voyages and company workshop for their own personal profit and created their shell FC because those features aren't available to a private home. The number of these also inflated the count of FCs on each world making it look like there was a higher need for FC housing.
