That might be the dumbest thing I've read in this thread for awhile.I wasn't trying to make a point on the merit of gameplay. The changes seem to be to cut down on how complex the jobs are for the purpose of supporting and balancing the damage out. The problem is that the game is over 10 years old if we consider 1.0 part of it, and the amount of features and content in the game that has to be supported is massive. Logistically, if they have to hire more developers to maintain the game due to job growth they are going to make less profit per month, and software engineers are expensive friends to have. So the only option that is left is to make simpler jobs to deal with so that the same team can handle more of them. It's the only thing that makes sense given the direction of summoner and the changes done to the samurai.
You might think it's dumb, but if I had to balance out damage numbers on multiple jobs, plus have to update them and their entire rotation every blasted time the next expansion is coming, and it was going to come on a schedule with basically zero flexibility if something went wrong on the 11th hour of the night, I sure as hell would cut down on complexity. Not everything revolves around player feedback but if enough people are upset about it maybe they will revert something...
Kind of doubt they will.

Why are you excusing a multi-billion dollar company and a game that literally saved them financially? They have the resources to do things correctly. OH NO! My MULTI-BILLION-DOLLAR COMPANY is having trouble balancing jobs? Better just simplify everything so that balancing is easier. That way we can put more man-hours into modelling garish outfits for our cash shop in our PAID SUB MMO.You might think it's dumb, but if I had to balance out damage numbers on multiple jobs, plus have to update them and their entire rotation every blasted time the next expansion is coming, and it was going to come on a schedule with basically zero flexibility if something went wrong on the 11th hour of the night, I sure as hell would cut down on complexity. I get wanting to play devil's advocate, but all you're doing is making the Devs sound greedy and lazy. Even if you're right, and that's exactly why they're baby-proofing the game's combat, almost everyone in this thread likely agrees that's a terrible reason to move in this direction. It's anti-fun for the players, no matter why they do it.
Remember when they said in one of the live letter “always remember the player/fans without them the game would be dead” well looks like if you get famous and big enough you just don’t like too listen to the player base anymore. I remember when blizzard did this, with the famous quote “You think you do, but you don't" and we can see how Bad they do right now.OH NO! all these players care about is being on top of the dps charts they will dig themselfs into a hole and they will get suspended.
Samurais can still be on top of the dps charts now because the changes barely changed samurai's overall output, so you're an idiot if you think that these changes nerfed samurai. But hey, another failed troll, how exciting. Doesn't even know how the job was even changed or even offered a good opinion. Just more worthless garbage we can safely ignore.
I disagree.
SAM still top DPS? and the 6.1 changes met with overwhelming negative feedback? Might be a hint that it is a lot more then just about being top DPS. Here are some of the listed " Crap Changes " unrelated to being Nr1 DPSThe argument of " Who's top DPS " is overused beyond believe...
- Auto-Crit changes suck
- Our Hard Hitting skills now don't even hit Hard
- Execution of our Job became less skill-expressive
- AoE took a heavy nerf through Tenka Goken
- We lost a satisfying button and cool animation
- Tenka Goken shape change, I hate it
- Sam synergizes less in Crit Comps
To often coming from envious players, players who don't even Raid and just spew out that we are Top DPS without understanding, or players who don't know how the " Color Website " and charts even works.
Though I'd understandably understand if its all to hard and to logical to understand if you lack understanding of the game or our job.
